Even at 500pts there will be vehicles that can outmaneuver your 60ish models. I'd try to put some rokkits in your mobs. if the table is 3 x 3 you won't have much of an issue with
being out of range. Oh, and I'd take Shoota boys.

actually youll prolly do fine. With a 3X3 board tanks are not gunna have anywhere to go. The only tanks you will run across will be something from IG hellhound/sent. MAYBE a valk. I doubt youll see a land raider. With such a small board your boyz will do wonders. Dodgeing 60 boys on a 3X3 may not even be possible.

This isn't going to help you as I know sod all about orcs but why play a 500 pt tournament the games must last about five minutes.

500 pt games are a great way to try out units and get to know the game a bit better.

Plus sometimes you just want a 40min game, and with setting up terrain and armies it'll easily take that.

Fair enough I suppose I suffer from the fact that my wife lets me play so rarely that when I do play I want it to last as long as I can.

On a 3x3 table this is going to kick ass, think about it:

With 60 boys on a 36inch wide table, assuming they are all base-to-base you get two ranks of boyz that stretch across the entire board!

Factor in that you want max unit coherency (all models 2inches apart) to minimise blast template damage and your looking at a totally filled deployment zone! (assuming deployment zone of 6inches) and more-or less full otherwise!

As for the list, I would say ditch the nob in troop 2 and put the warboss in there, nothing keeps a fire-magnet safe like 28 meat-shields! and spend the points that you spent on the nob on something to harass the enemy, perhaps some big shootas for the boyz!

I wouldn't worry too much about anti-tank, there are not going to be many truly hard nuts to crack at 500pts, plus your PKs are going to be hitting on them by turn 2 and are nicely protected by two huge mobs of boys!

I personally like Deff Koptas with buzz saws... 60 points and takes out anything less than a LR...

thanks for all the replys
we are only playing 500pts because we only have a 1hour lunch to get our games done in also we have alot of new players to the game and they dont have an extensive amount of funds to large armys yet

i did contemplate running a deffkopta with buzzsaw but there is only 1 tank (vindicator) that i know of in the tournament
keep comments coming guys

20 Shoota Boyz with 2 rokkits, a Nob with a Powerklaw and Bosspole cost around 180 points... I would say 20 because you get a lot of bang for your buck, and is easier to maneuver around...

If I am reading this correctly, you can only have 1 extra troop choice and the other slots are also reduced to one... sounds like fun...

A little off topic, but I just get tired of hearing about how someone's wife won't let them play. There's really no reason for this. If it's something you want to do, explain that it's important to you and just coordinate a time. I say, anyone who's wife "wont let them play" is making excuses. Wives get to do things they want, why should it be any different for the husbands? It's not like you're gone for more than a few hours anyways, so why not? I am married by the way, and Ive let my wife know that it's something I want to do every so often, and that was that.

If anyone who is in this boat cares to mention why it is they won't, well, grow a pair, I mean it's not like this is a huge thing, it's just wargaming afterall! But could lead to deeper resentment later!

Sorry.....ranting...

There aren't terribly many variations that you can pull with 500 points, but I would agree with removing the nob and putting your warboss in the second group and getting shoota boyz instead, armed with a few rokkits but still having the capability of meleeing well.

If you're looking for confirmation that your list will work, it should be fine, but if you're looking for variation all you can really do is remove the warboss, give the nob in group 2 a pk, and perhaps drop a few boyz and work a mek in there with KFF and move it so it provides cover for many units. Or place the warboss in unit two and pull out a few units and add lootas/deffkoptas/etc.

I second the rokkit idea, and split those 2 squads of 30 into 3 squads of 20, take out one nob and put in the warboss.

Orks - REPAINTED into Ice world orks DA BLOO TIDE WAAAAGH! - around 2k pts.

CSM - Nurgle - - around 700 pts.

he can only have 2 troops choices total in his league.

I like the list but I would second(or is it third by now) the Shoota Boys option(with 3 big shootas though)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Up in your base, killin' all your doods.

Well, it looks fine for the point level. Your so restricted at 500 theres really not much more you can do. You could change the Warboss to a KFF Mek to get cover on all those orks.

I dought you have the models for it, but if proxy is allowed vehcile spam,

HQ:
Troops:
12 boys, nob, Pk, bosspole, trukk=147
11 boys, nob, Pk, bosspole, trukk=147
Fast attack:
3 warbuggies=90
heavy support:
3 killa kanz=105

You have like 11 points left for an HQ, so trim down whatever you see fit, the point is that this many vehicles in a game that small will pwn.

lol 8 vehicles in 500 points. Thats almost unfair.

I would almost be tempted to say take Ghaz, a smallish unit of Nobz with Painboy, and throw them all in a Battlewagon.

But that in and of itself would be unfair too, especially since Ghaz is a unique, his Waagh is ridiculous, and a BW in a 500 point game with a FNP mob would be seriously hard to beat.

As a new player i love 500 point games because it is a nice way to learn to play the game and i am not forced to field EVERYTHING.

Anyways, I am undefeated in 500 point games as orks. All you need to do is max out on boys really.

I don't even bother with shoota boys, you really should be running, not shooting. 2 groups of 30 with a nob and pk. and maybe a cheap HQ choice like a Big Mek.

There just aren't many armies that can take on that many bodies and once you make it to close combat the game is virtually over.

If you are reling on 2 PKs for your anti tank I feel that that list might also use tweeking. Although I love hoard, a hoard of vehicles is much more effective, in a 500 point game most armies field very few (4-6) anti tank weapons, most of them being power fists or melta bombs. So if you max out that aspect you can exploit the weakness all low point armies have, in a pinch anything can kill infantry, but few things can kill tanks.
