I am at my wit's end here. I am trying to assemble Bel'akor using the Citadel super glue and it's maddening. I hold one leg on there for 5-10 minutes, let it dry for 20 minutes. If that isn't annoying enough, as I'm trying to put the other leg on I bump the glued on leg and it falls off. So after an hour and still no progress I need to vent a little bit, and ask a couple questions. Is there a better way? Is there some glue out there that will work better? What about using green stuff or magnets?

Super glue works well enough against smaller models, but for anything larger than infantry I would have to suggest pinning. You can find pinning tutorials both here and around the internet. Also, a coarse grit sandpaper applied to either side of the bond will ensure the glue has something to grip.

For metal minis, I use the pinning method. Drill a hole on both bits with a pin vice, then insert a piece of paper clip or something similar along with the glue.

So something like this: http://www.thewarstore.com/product48378.html ?

That should work fine.

I use the games workshop hobby drill.

Sandpaper helps sometimes, as mentioned above. It gives the glue something to "stick" to. I'd try that before spending $$ on a drill.

How old is your super glue?
If, when you open the bottle, the fumes don't make your eyes weep a little it's probably too old.
Both surfaces should be flat & clean. A small amount of glue should be all you need.
If the model seems a little greasy (as I've found with US bought models) clean with some alchohol (eg white spirit or meths).
I don't use GW super or plastic glue. The superglue is a little thick and so is the plastic for that matter.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Step one, throw away the awful GW crap superglue and get something decent like Gorilla Superglue or Zap a Gap.

Two, with something that heavy you MUST pin the joint. I also recommend using a two part epoxy to attach heavy joints, like Araldite, Devcon or JB Kwik.

Pinnignis your friend. I use normal paper clips and the GW hobby drill - makes a near perfect fit.

If that is still nto secure enough try putting a little blob of greenstuff on the end of the leg so the joints mould together.

As many others have said, use a pin, and use better glue (such as zap-a-gap and kicker).

However, instead of using sandpaper, I like to use a sharp hobby blade, and slice a series of slashes into the surfaces which will receive the glue, then more slashes going the other way, so that those sections look like a screen door. It's pretty fast and gives the glue a good structure to dig into.

Loctite ultra gel is the best I have found so far. Highly recommended. Not sure if you can get it over the pond though.
