I know he is only mentioned in a paragraph in the CSM codex but i find it SO INTERESTING!

Doombreed is supposedly one of, or the origional deamon prince. of course he is a MOK one because Khorne was the first of the gods to be born (aroud the middle ages correct?) anyways he was on Hourus' barge when it was attacked by the emporer but there was no confirmation of him being slain. I find the idea of a possible DP from the middle ages being around in 40k as awesome. Maybe he started mutating in the middle ages subtley and had an extended lifespan, maybe he was able to conceal his mutations or just seperate himself ffrom society and trick people into not revealing himself. interesting when you think about it. Also when i think of what he would look like i immediatley think of the Belakor model. He is even smaller than a regular DP because he is human, not a genetically enhanced ANGRY MARINE!

i would like to hear more about him; but i doubt i ever will.

i like the idea of well.... not an opposite Emperor but more like some paralell history, completley different mindset. A deamon that old regardless of size would be very powerful. and to be honest i would rather see someone like that, an ancient DP with knowlege and experience over 13 failed black crusades with abbadon.

He could be any dictator in history,from Stalin,Lenin,Hitler,Jervis Johnson etc...

When I read about him I always thought he was along the lines of Genghis Khan.

They are too big and mainstream (Well, as 'mainstream' as a toy soldier company can get!) to ever come out and say it was Hitler, Stalin or any other 'real world' lightning rod and/or dictator, etc.

The short verse which tells of the ascension of Doombreed mentions that it took place on a 'blasted heath'. I would say that the author could have been referencing Macbeth as he meets the witches on a blasted heath and ultimately it is at this point he starts out on the road to destruction that eventually causes him to say “I am in blood / Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more, / Returning were as tedious as go o’er”. It could also be a reference to the Colour out of Space which also uses the phrase blasted heath although both of these don't tell us who Doombreed was it could indicate the way the author was approaching the character.

There could even be an obscure reference to the Book of Revelation which talks about the rod of iron and Doombreed carries a rod of twisted bone. In a vision of Saint Niphon the Holy Cross appears shining 'brighter than the sun' a phrase which describes Doombreed's ascension except his cross is the symbol of Doombreed's dark 'Lord'. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it!

Hitler sounds as good a candidate to me as any. Doombreed has the symbol of Khorne, described as a rod of twisted bone 'crossed and recrossed' and swastika in German is hakenkruez or hooked cross and you've also got Doombreed's ravaging of entire nations and acts of genocide and murder.

I like the idea that it could be Macbeth.

But if and ONLY if GW considers our reality right now the prehistory of 40k then it would be easy to assume that it can't be Macbeth because he was fictional even in 40k history

Could be any number of people: Napoleon, a number of Caesars, Emperor Xerxes or Darius, Qin Shi Huangdi. Basically, think any bloody tyrant in history, and that's a likely candidate.

I still SAy Bloodier, and NOT behind a desk like Hitler and Stalin. Not someone who caused bloodshed but also many positive things like Xerxes or some roman emporers.

I say my best choices are: Vlad the Impaler, Nero, Hannibal, Alexander the Great (tho there was some good in the lad!), Napolean, some higher up in the spanish inquisition, Tao?

I'm strongly against Hitler. Khorne does not raise pencil-pushers. And I don't think Khorne would be his god of choice either (I'd say Tzeentch or Undivided). The only bit that makes people think of him is the whole genocide bit, which is, sadly, not a theme unique to him nor one that he was more extreme than many other dictators or conquerors.

Vlad is an interesting idea. So is Macbeth, but Khorne doesn't deal in all the sorcery and mysticism.

Definetly against Hitler. Khorne is a god of glorious death, not slaughter. It's been said that he cares little for hurting the weak, he only wishes for proper, endless battle.

Also, I'm against the idea of Khorne being born in the medieval ages. Perhaps born into human consciousness, but the Eldar are older than Humanity, and Slaanesh came around quite quickly. And since Slaanesh is the youngest of the bunch...

Morgrim Macbeth is not only fiction but yea the magic biz; Vlad was an actual person whose bloodshed caused the dracula story to be based loosley off him.

you need to remember that even tho Atilla was considered a scurge of the gods; he eventually submitted and made a deal with the pop himself and the Roman Empire's new faith in christianity. He was basically bought out by them whereas a servant of Khrone would NEVER surrender or make agreements of peace. Thing is, it says that the Emperor came to being "The Emperor" around the 1600's, so its impossible.
