The home of the Alamo, TX

MONTESANO, WA -- Authorities believe a Washington man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a car crash.

Grays Harbor County sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel (PIM'-en-tel) said Monday 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday and called a relative to pull his car from a ditch. However, family members found Messenger electrocuted when they arrived.

Pimentel says Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch but didn't see the live wire. The urine stream likely served as a conductor, allowing the electricity to reach his body.

Pimentel says there will be an autopsy but burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through Messenger's body.

Well, far as i remember seen stuff like this on Mythbusters. They prooved you couldn't get electrocuted unless you were 10 cm away or so.

However, if he really did get electrocuted, he must've had a lot of beer (or he was pissing copper cables ). Anyway, i'll classify it among top 5 most stupid deaths

Could you be there

'cause I'm the one who waits for you

Or are you unforgiven too?

LOLZ! That would have to be one of the most embarassing ways to die. Now I won't feel so bad if i get mauled by my attack crows. The song "ride the lightning" by Metallica comes to my mind for some reason.

Yea they disproved it as the flow of. . . .liquid is broken as it travels. They did not use a human however. Its possibly that that other factors besides what they tested are involved such as power of the current or body parts and such. I am sure different people have different streams.

I believe they were testing if you could get electrocuted by railroad tracks on that particular episode of mythbusters.

I think they used an electrified beam to simulate the fence. It was much easier to hit a steel beam than a wire. But I have not seen that episode in awhile.

Whats the power difference between a power line and a railroad line?

I bet the power line is MUCH higher.

God dammit.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Oh yes they did. In the end Adam pissed on it and got zapped, but it was from like 10 cm and it was an electrified fence

That was the third rail of a train track.

Not a power line.

This sort of thing is not funny at all, in fact it makes me shudder a little. I can't help visualizing his little man all burnt and burst like an exploding cigar.

When I was much younger than I am now, my parents had a new puppy and a slide projector which had an electric wire with a junction plug in the middle.

One day we were showing slides and the puppy, not being house trained yet, widdled on the junction.

There was a flash and bang. The projector shut off and the puppy bolted out the door as fast as he could go.

He didn't dare go near a wire on the floor for months afterwards.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Stupidity isn't a survival trait.

I laughed. I've seen much worse, usually involving stupidity.

Train 'surfers' who hit the overhead lines - zap!.
Train surfers who don't duck when entering a tunnel.

Numb nuts who attempt to steal the copper grounding straps for scrap metal and get electrocuted - also shorting out the signals/switchpoints so that the section of track is shut down and crews have to be sent out to reset them, and find the bodies.

As for wizzing on an electric fence. It's not something you do twice (unless you like it? )

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

My beagle chewed through a wire and near electrocuted herself when she was a few months old. She still has a scar on the inside of her mouth and a bald patch on her chest where the current went through.

18 months later and she's still an annoying , but I loevs her anyway!

I amp perfectly calm, given current circuitstances. Wire you charging me with poor conduct, when Cheese is the one generating friction? (That kid should plug his mouth before he gets grounded.)
