Not really sure this would qualify for a Darwin, as they are awarded for gross stupidity. From the article, it seems the man in question had no prior knowledge that in that particular ditch, there lay fallen power cable.

And let's face it, I think we'd all rather die to this, than survive it...

This type of accident is not rare.

It was a big enough problem (statistically) that warning posters were put up in army barracks.

They put warnings on Coffee cups. If somebody could find a cost-effective way of placing warning labels on toilet-paper rolls they would probably do it.

In regards to the Mythbusters test, I watched that episode and they did not DISprove it. They proved it. You have to keep up a constant stream for 15 seconds for the electricity to reach your brain and kill you, but if you manage that you can die in this way. And I personally have proven that a man can keep an unbroken stream of piss going for at least 15 seconds. If you don't believe me, drink a lot of liquid, wait for the pressure to build up in your bladder, and then let loose. I think I passed 20 seconds a few times...

You know what I hate? Those streams that go on for so long that you end up contemplating sitting down for the rest of the duration.

That made me remember when i was a kid, we had a small passage between 2 blocks and we used to go piss there (football matches behind the block were too intense to pause and go home), and we made contests of who could piss higher...Gee, even now i wonder how a 10-year old 4 ft. kid could piss almost twice his height up on a block.
