Thinking of getting a couple of these sets to chop up and make my own!

>><<

A few questions to anyone that has them.

Are they good scale for 40k?

How big are the roughly (height/ area)?

Is there any better alternatives?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the ruins but they make great 40k buildings.
If you look in my and kid kyotos gallerys' there are picks of the buildings in the background.

They're a good substitute if you don't want to use the GW stuff. Scale is the same but they lack "fixings" and stuff that GW supplies, so you might want to augment them with CoD bits from eBay.

Hi

I saw these, well the cathedral model, in the hobby department of my local toy shop. They do look cool, they are 1/72 scale if memory serves. So they are meant for 25mmish models so should work for 40k. To be honest after reading the box in store I got the distinct impression that that is exactly what they are designed for. There is a comment about wars in the far future, and what other far future do you know that loves the gothic.

Height wise on the model depends on the one you get I guess.

I don't know about any better alternatives, except the scenary GW does.

PM me and ask me about Warpath Wargames Norwich or send me an email

My FLGS has some, and they are more sturdy than the Cities of Death terrain because they are simply a bit thicker. The extra durability is nice.

Can they be used for 40k?

You betcha.

Yes, they are a little 'plain' compared to the over-blinged and skulled GW CoD buildings, but they are fine for using in GW games. The levels are around the same height.

This is a pic of one of mine (made up of parts of two kits). It's still missing the spires and a roof for the top level (removable). It was made as two separate levels that can be put together - there are interior and exterior stairs (rear) to access the top level when it is a two-storey building. I also have a flat 'parapet' area so that I can use the two parts as two separate 1 storey buildings.
The figure is an old GW (pre-necromunda) skirmish game Confrontation model called a "brat".

I dont see why not? besides that it does not look very futuristic, it still has the Gothic style that 40k has.

Go ahead with it, it's a good idea

The pieces ARE thicker than GWs ones (so a good saw will come in handy) and the pillars are on all of the wall pieces (each piece consists of a wall panel and pillar section).
The wall panels have tabs that slot into holes in the pillar for ease of assembly.

And not 'futuristic' is a good thing. You can always ADD stuff to make it more grimdark (mine has no accessories added yet, like lights, torches, gargoyles, etc - they all slot into those holes in the pillars (and spare bricks go in the others). This way it can be used for a more modern game as well. It's kinda hard to de-skiffy a building kit like GWs for use in any other game.

I just got one in the mail and it is great. Customize it to make your own buildings and it is quite literially huge. It's a great buy for $28 and IMHO much better than the gw pieces.

I own four of the pegasus model line.

The first is the ruins you asked about. You get two "Corner" Ruins with a floor on it. Each wall is approximatly six inches long, and six high. The detailing is fairly simple. The 'floor' you get fits in a bit tricky at first. Thankfully you get two. You can glue, or not. Without glue it'll fit together fairly well. I glued mine since, well. I'm fairly hard on models.

The second is the Cathedral. You get some wall peices, some pointed roof peices and some arches. It's fairly simple to put together. Gives you a long church like thing. Wouldn't take much work to put a few pew's in and make it a church to the emperor.

The second church type one they have is smaller, but taller. It's two stories. but the second story is just a 1 by 1 square. Each "1" is a single pillar, and the wall to the left till the next pillar. It comes with two doors and some arches as well as two "Hgh" arches. The pillar reaching to the arch is twice as long as the first church. Combined, you can get some neat stuff.

The last pegasus model I have is their "Box" set. It's a box with numerous "wall" peices. highly modular, you can build many things.

What I did, was turn it into a four story building that's 2x2. Approximatly six by six inches. ( one wall segment is approximatly three inches in length. ) I modded it though, so it works as a dice roller with ramps in side and a hole in the roof. It was done in about an hour while watching Dirty Jobs. I was bored.

All the pegasus models can fit together, so you can buy multiple sets and make a grand old structure. The plastic is alot harder then the GW plastic, it's also thicker. The detail on the models is fairly generic. These would all ideally make great "Blanks" to start a terrain mod with, building up with these as the cornerstone.

That's fantastic. Real bargain. Can you post the website? I googled them and a bunch of random hobby stores came up.

I got them from here>> http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/pegasus-hobbies-gothic-city-ruins-4930-p-10936.html

They are £11.69 each but I had a 1 time coupon so got and extra 5% off.

They weighed 1.1lb (500g) (with 8 weeping willow trees) so they would post to the US Airmail costing around £7.

Better off getting them from a US site I imagine.

Hope that helps bro.

Pegasus are good and do a odd range of stuff. The 'Techno-bridge' looks the part for city games involving rivers too.

They did the 1/48th V2 rocket that I used as a missile for my Deathstrike (see my gallery), it was a mere £6 for all that lovely plastic!" Bargain. It was a strange kit that couldn't make up its mind if it was for adults or kids, the instructions marked out military colours and a little history but it also included a decal sheet of sticky labels with skull and crossbones or big words like "Kaboom!" and "Bang!" written on them.
