Picked this ltd edition beauty up from studio McVey a couple of weeks back and just getting round to assembling and painting it now. It really is a gorgeous kit and I thoroughly recommend you check it out. See the Lt. Kara Black kit review on my blog for more info why!

Onto the pics:

As you can probably see, I replaced the barrel with one from a lasgun and a piece of paper clip. This was largely due to the original being a bit miscast and incomplete.

I also had to do a little work to get a good fit with the arms that would allow me to add a few pins for stability.

Undercoat is up next then paint. I'm thinking a nice jungle scene...

Cheers,

Dante

McVey didn't sculpt that, Teek, Kev White did. McVey just owns the studio.

Okay, I normally don't bother reading many of these pro-painting threads, but since I'm lucky enough to own one of these figures, I'm interested to see what you can do.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. Kev White has succeeded where countless sculptors fail: the non-tranny female face.

Regardless, looking forward to paint progress Dante!

Kara is 35mm to the top of her head, with rather bent legs, so sadly she's too tall to be of use in a Guard force. It's a stunning model though... I still need to pluck up the courage to do more than just gaze in awe at the gorgeous pieces.

The other miniatures from Studio McVey are all gorgeous; though I'm not so sure about the left arm on the new one, Sharro. It looks to be in a very odd position and very thin.

While not an Infinity figure, from the Infinity range I recommend the Yu Jing Oniwaban - super cool pose and nice sculpt.

Screw ruined corridor! Too common for this type of figure thanks to the Vasquez reference. I'm thinking "Predator stalking" in the jungle!

McVey is still the King, though as has been said, this isn't his work. Massive praise to the man and his wife Ali for releasing some truly stunning figures. Apparently the plan is to aim for one a month according to Mike when I spoke with him, with some cool "extra special" stuff in store in the coming months!

How do you mean "pro-painting threads"? Hope there's nothing off putting about the types of threads I create. Oddly there doesn't seem to be many painted versions of this figure floating around on the net. Be sure to post your own efforts too!

Yes, far too big for a GW stand in but a stunning piece all the same and well worth picking up while it's still available.

I like the new figure, it has a kind of "sneaking along corridors" type pose which fits the style of the mini.

More soon!

Dante

Oh no, but cheers for the heads up guys. I'll see if I can find some old necromunda figures and give them a similar pose

DAMN YOU DANTE..... you knew by posting this sexy model that I would have to get one because the cool kids have them... think I will order next week hrmmm.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Well, you do paint to a very high standard - absolutely nothing wrong with it, it's just not something that's interested me much. Probably stems from envy. And yes, once mine is finished she'll be posted up along with the rest of my Escher gang.

It was part of my cunning plan all along mate! Mwa hahahahah!

It is a very nice mini. Takes a little bit of care though to clean and assemble because some of the parts are quite delicate (the ammo feed for example) so getting some of the flash off really does require some fine grit wet dry and a nice scalpel blade.

For those who havent seen it, I have created a tutorial on my blog on resin and metal mini gap filling with squadron white putty and acetone - http://cmdante.blogspot.com

I'm sure there are some bits from necromunda and the infinity ranges that could be kit bashed to create something similar.

Sounds good. Interested to see how she'll fit in with the rest of the gang though? She seems a bit too big and differently proportioned to me.

You're in luck, Dante--because the Predator model I was thinking of has been out of production for years, apparently.
