I've still yet to see someone tackle this issue of the Spore Pods having weapons.

I think its a waste of time to give them weapons. BS of 2. just not worth the points.

You could just say that the spines on the sides shoot out. Not a big deal, IMO, but then, I am not a WYSIWYG hard liner.

Ouch! 5 for 90 though.

They know who they are appealling to and how desperate some are *cough* space wolves players *cough*

So, yall who want a playset of thunderwolves are looking at $270 + cost of bases. (Thunder wolf bases are 60mm not 65mm)

Technically TW bases are whatever your model fits on since they dont have a GW model.. They're cavalry so cavalry bases (bikes) are logical.. so are 40mm and so are 60mm. Canis is a SC with a larger than average thunderwolf, I personally dont use 60mm bases as less than half the base is even used by my russian made thunderwolves

$45 each...

Ouch.

I'd like to see some size comparison pics next to a Space Marine drop pod.

Yeah that is the nicest looking secondary market pod I have seen but damn $45 is a bit rich for something that would become psuedo-unsuable when an official pod comes out.

I dig the wolves but the bodies seem a bit off -- much like canis' wolf they have the barrel chest and ar eless sleek like a real wolf. I guess that means these don't clash should you end up using him in a game with these. At least the heads look better and the 'armored legs' are a nice touch.

Im not a fan of the fluff behind thunderwolves, but these models are very well done and stick to the "look" given to us by GW in the form of Canis.

If I didnt have my own plans for a cool set of counts-as thunderwolves I would be laying some cash for these.

Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. His pricing though too high i'd say. 45$ for a pod.

IMO - while it is a unique product - the price should match that of GW at the very least. The pod might be obsolete when the new model comes out eventually.
Maybe even the thunder wolves. You'd have to go out and buy appropriate legs and conversions. Could dump money on FW instead maybe. ha.

That would be insanely exspensive to make all those units.
High price = low quantity.

Gotta find the optimal profit maximing price. That wont do imo.

Cuz i certaintly wont budge.. Maybe some will bite but I just think it'll be expsensive.

I will admit both are nice sculpts really nice in fact. Just... pricey.

It's not like this is without precedent though. 29 bucks for 50+ points isn't so bad, it's pretty much the equivalent of a 'cron Destroyer. A lot of cheaper models are comparatively more expensive: Ork Bikes are close to 30 bucks for 50 points. And then there are Rhinos which approach the $1/1point rate.

Complaining about the cost of miniatures in wargaming is like complaining about the amount of reading involved in being a literary critic.

EDIT: Those look awesome, too. I'd say easily worth 20 each.

Wonder if GW has had a board meeting yet:

"You know how much money we're losing on not having a Mycetic Spore model out?"

"Yeah, it's bad. Should we create one?"

"Nah, by the time we get one out, they'll already have other versions."

"How can we deal with this?"

"C&D?"

"Brilliant!"

Yeah, I think they are overpriced, too. But I got to hold them and they really do look nice in person, the wolves are REALLY big, they look very intimidating.

The pod is a big bugger, too now that I think about it. At least the size of a drop pod if memory serves.

The Mycetic Spore looks good but it’s a bit expensive, think if an Indi company is going to make one they should try and make fall into the price bracket of the sm drop pod.

The thunder wolves are some of the better ones on the market and there is a lot of them now.Gw and forge world have really missed the window of opportunity on this one.

Well the first pod is nicely designed, but I see more terrain than a drop pod in it. And it currently is out of the range I am willing to pay (for that price I get Epicast drop pod recasts).
The second pod by Blue Painting is equally visually appealing, but an immobile pod with legs somehow looks wrong. And is also out of my price range. But still, maybe in the future as some objective marker (spore chimney pump or other super organ).
I applaud to the wolves who are also very expensive but I would buy them on the spot if I collected Space Wolves, knowing that GW sculptors just can't do canines.

Someone needs to make a thunderwolf mount and price it at 12-15 bucks. The same as a biker. They would sell out and the pricing wouldn't be unreasonable.

But at the moment, 21-25 for the mount plus 3.50 for the wolf marine ontop (from the basic boys box) makes that a pretty expensive model.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

Pretty nice looking models. If I didn't already go the Juggernaught way for my TWC I'd definately order those. I like the Mycetic Spore a lot too.

But at the moment, 21-25 for the mount plus 3.50 for the wolf marine ontop (from the basic boys box) makes that a pretty expensive model.

I hear you. I bought 8 Bloodcrushers to get my TWC mounts and one Khorne Lord on Juggernaught to get an even bigger mount for the Wolf Lord. Add to that the Wolf Lord bitz including Archaon on foot's torso, and the 8 other Marines (that required an extra sprue for chapter upgrade bitz, storm shields etc), I think my cav costs almost 400$. The Maelstrom gives a pretty nice discount but its still about 300$.
