Subject: Forge World Warhound Titan Modeling Question

I had a quick question for anyone who has built a Forge World Warhound titan.
How feasible would it be to magnetize the arm joints in order to switch out the various weapons options for the model kit? Is the kit constructed in such a way as to allow that sort of conversion i.e. the arms aren't so heavy that they require being glued into the sockets?
I want to get a Warhound titan soon but I can't settle on a weapons configuration and knowing that I could make the kit modular would make purchasing such an expensive kit a lot easier to justify.
Thanks in advance.

It depends on what they send you if it is just the weapon or the weapon and the arm.
If is just the weapon you would need all the weapons to find an area to put the magnets so they can hold the weapon and allow them to be changed.
If you look at the left shoulder the arms have ball joints so a magnet in the front and in the back should be strong enough to hold it.
If you get an arm with the weapon then it will be a little easier glue the arm to the weapon and magnetize the arm to the shoulder.
On the mars patt one the round disk is separate so you would glue the magnet to this.
drill out a hole in the arm as deep as two magnets then get a slightly larger bit and drill out to the depth of one magnet this makes it easier to put in the arms magnet.
Check polarity multiple times before you glue them.
I will be magnetizing a reaver and will post how to do it when I get it.

Well many people have done it before, you just need powerful neodymium magnets, which you can get off Ebay for a relatively cheap price. I haven't done it on my one but I can imagine it would be pretty easy to drill out the holes. Just get the polarity right though otherwise you'll have a forever armless Titan.
But why are you making the weapons modular? There's only really one weapon you want on a Warhound

Sonofruss, thanks for the great response, it was really helpful.
Valkyrie, I appreciate the suggestion of neodymium magnets. I guess I wanted to make the model modular so I could have as many options as possible (which sounds obvious but sometimes its fun to play around with different load out-guess it is my background in Battletech poking through). The turbo lasers were at the top of my load out list, as were the plasma blast guns.
While we are on the subject of the Warhound is there much of a difference between the Mars pattern and Lucius pattern hulls in terms of accepting the different arm weapons? I noticed on the FW site that the Mars pattern only has weapon options for the Vulcan Mega Bolter and Plasma Blast Gun, while the Lucius pattern has those two weapons plus the Turbo Lasers and the Inferno Cannon. I guess what I am asking is if I got the Mars pattern hull could I put the Lucius pattern Turbo Lasters and Inferno Cannon on the model?
Thanks again for the replies. Mucho appreciated.

Really, where?
Taken in order from the link you provided you get the following:
Ref: IA-TTN-E-039 MARS PATTERN VULCAN MEGA BOLTER (LEFT ARM)
Ref: IA-TTN-E-040 MARS PATTERN PLASMA BLASTGUN (RIGHT ARM)
Ref: IA-TTN-E-049 LUCIUS PATTERN VULCAN MEGA BOLTER
Ref: IA-TTN-E-048 LUCIUS PATTERN TURBO LASER
Ref: IA-TTN-E-047 LUCIUS PATTERN PLASMA BLASTGUN
Ref: IA-TTN-E-046 LUCIUS PATTERN INFERNO CANNON
Item numbers 41 - 43 are missing from that page. Are those the Mars pattern weapons, and if so how does one go about ordering them when they aren't shown on the Forge World site?

Just had a look and they're the following
Inferno Cannon IA-TTN-E-050
Turbo Laser Destructor IA-TTN-E-050

The Turbo Lasers are actually IA-TTN-E-051

Very Big! i tried using some huge magnet at £10 each. Total waste of money take my advice pin it and use small magnets.

Hey Dark, I'll be doing this very thing this weekend. I will be sure to tell you how it turned out. I will be using the magnets in the weapon and on the arm, the top of the arm will be pinned into the weapon mounts.

I can't believe people actually pay like $400+ dollars for these things. That's just amazing. And you can rarely ever even use them. You can get a full 2000 point army for that.

For me it’s not so much a gaming model but a hobby project that I can take my time with enjoy and happen to use in a game from time to time. If you get into that type of thing the Forge World kits are full of small details and modeling challenges that make you commit.
Nothing like taking a dremel and saw to a $400+ model, but I've done it and man what a rush
Hey Dark, check out my Blog:

You might find it useful. When working on a FW Titan you need as much reference material as possible.
