I wish they'd do a 360 port. I had to go and spoil the ending for myself on YouTube instead of waiting for a friend to buy it.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The graphics, gameplay, story, the cinematics, Kratos is 10x more badass than he was in GOW 1 or 2.... this game is a MUSt have for PS3 owners, if you know someone with it PLAY IT! The games tight as hell. Oh, and don't play it on hard (like I am) your first time through... its brutal lol

Friend bought his PS3 over yesterday and we played it through start to finish.

It has a very... quick ending.

Yeah, the ending just left me thinking "So is that it?"

Even after waiting 'til the end of the credits (as I knew there'd be something more) was left very 'hollow' by it.

I mean, at the end of Max Payne 2, a game I adored, I feld hollow because the ending was so good but everyone bloody died. In this it's because it didn't really end, it just sorta... stopped.

I was really expecting 'Athena' to be some sort of hidden crazy evil entity who wanted everyone out of the way so she could take over, but no, she really was Ghost Athena who just wanted Hope back in order to... do... something. I don't know.

I do believe that the anticlimactic conclusion was intentional; given that they intend to make additional games.

Yeah but about what? He's killed basically everyone. The only god he left standing was Aphrodite (although technically she wasn't standing, if you catch my drift - hell, she probably couldn't even walk for an hour after that ).

Does he move onto other pantheons? Kratos in Egypt next? Kratos vs Thor?

I don't think Kratos is in any shape to fight anyone now.

My first thought was the Roman pantheon. Similar enough for Kratos to make at least some sort of sense in the context, but sufficiently different to ensure that the game isn't a total rehash. And there's also Athena to be considered. Perhaps the game assumes that she goes on to found the Roman pantheon.

Though, honestly, I'd prefer that they simply applied the GOW brand to a new character and mythology.

I want a game where it starts off in Greek mythological times, but with no obvious links to God of War. Then half-way through you find the Blades of Exile or something like that, and then things start ramping up.

Either that or it's Kratos vs Anubis + Ra + Horus, which, although nonsensical, would be awesome.


A friend and I also discussed the idea that Kratos could just travel backward and forward in time, killing various historical figures. We found that we never died in combat, always to jumping puzzels, so obviously gravity is Kratos' only true weakness. Flash forward so he can fight Isaac Newton. And, as it would turn out, Newton didn't discover gravity - he created it - so he is the only foe who can truly defeat Kratos.

And then Abraham Lincoln. You think the statue in DC is just a memorial? Hell no! That thing is Lincoln's tomb, where he was buried alive as to stop him from destroying the world - but he escapes and Kratos has to stop him. And he's really that tall, making him a good match for Kratos. And they fight up and down the Washington Monument (which Kratos can walk up and down, having taken the power of gravity from Newton).

Yeah, it was a long car journey back to my friend's place after we finished the game...

A few friends were raving over this and to be quite honest i can't see spending 60 dollars on an 8 hour game.

Yes i have and they are great games, but again for me the dollar to hour ratio of this game just doesn't do it for me. I'll rent it from my local Video store and play it for the day and be happy spending 3 dollars then 60. I admit they are tremendously awesome games but i choose to spend my money wisely these days.

I just finished the first God of War about 10 minutes ago. It was pretty fun.

I think the dollar to spectacle ratio is more important than how long it is.

After playing GoWIII, why play a boring RPG where you spend four hours collecting worms for some douche so he can give you a wooden sword to practice with so after twelve hours chasing gnomes you can get a tin sword to finally kill something.

Piss on that. The eight hours of GoWIII are all the good parts, with the bad parts excised.

And if you beat it in 8 hours, you played on Easy or Normal, thus you are a p***y.

I've always thought that this entire genre has become kind of... Meh. But that might be just me. It just has so little depth beyond, press any combination of any buttons to kill everything... oh and theres platforming too.

I never played any of the god of war games, would it be worthwhile to buy GOW 1&2 and play through them first, like for storyline and stuff? I saw it at target for $30. I wanna play GOW3 but if it's worth it I'll do the first 2 first.. were they PS2 games just ported to PS3? or was it always PS3?

I remember hearing about a two pack of the 1st and 2nd that gave them updated graphics for the PS3 iirc, but I might be mistaken.
If I am, then pick up the first two and play them.

You can pretty easily pick up on the story in the third, but you'll be missing out on some great gaming moments if you don't play the first two.

Yeah, get the updated version of GoWI and GoWII that they released for the PS3. Play them through. Then play GoWIII.

It'll be worth it.
