Crimson fists can look good, but you have to be careful. They look good with nice, dull, muted reds, but as soon as it gets too bright, you're brought back to the 'red era' of GW... which may do something for all you nostalgic old feths out there, but for me... it's just god damn ugly.

Just pick your favourite colour, an appropriate compliment (try not to go with the opposite colour--it hurts the eyes. Go with something analogous to the opposite of your base), and a trim.

A good example of this is Ultramarines. Blue base, Yellow/gold compliment, white trim. Of course, the Ultramarines suck, so stay away from the Smurfs.

See I love the "red spear" style that GW had. It dont know why but those are what sold me to play Warhammer. Those old High Elves, ah nostalgia!

But yeah Crimson Fists are hard to get right, I have tried but cant really get it. the blue always ends up too dark and the red too bright.

I would say make up a cool chapter then use the rules from one of the specific Space Marine codexs. Like I was think of doing a Boars of War army and using Space Wolf rules or the new Blood Angles codex. A Feudal Samurai style army could be sweet with perhaps a Dark Angle rules? You know the 1st company could be the samurai and they get cool weapons but then the regular marines could just be the old peasant foot soldiers and the sweet samurai horsemen could represent the raven wing. I dont know go wild!

I would have to agree. Black and white makes a great contrast, and can really make your forces look intimidating.

It also makes them easier to paint than other chapters. Also, you can save a lot of money. Aside from painting, they are amazing to look at, and will always look awesome.

No I definantly wouldn't jump on that bandwagon just yet.

Dark blue and gold is a good color set for just about anything, looks really good on marines, not sure if a chapter already has a color set simmiliar to this or not.
