Okay. After 2 years gone from 40k (and now living in CALI with 2 GWs near me), I wanted to get into 40k again. I have several ideas, and have all the conversion work planned out (100% GW bits), but which army would be coolest? I like them equally, but I just need some insight of what some might find fun to play against....

I think one of the guard variants, probably the halo one, would be a cool army to face. I think a lot of people will jump on the blood angel bandwagon. Nice to offer opponents something a bit different.

Halo and Gears of War armies are so, so played out. Blood Angels are going to be flavor of the month soon, and Lost Planet is too obscure for people to really get the reference. Pretty looking Tau are always fun to fight against though.

I would say that the Tau are the way to go. Especially if you have the money for the Forgeworld Stuff.

Blood Angels will be cool, but everyone does all the new stuff and guard and marine armies are everywhere.

Ignore anyone who poo poos the codex. There are so many good things about it. Read some of DashofPeppers vehement defense of the Tau Codex on this forum for some good Tau army ideas and moral support.

Excellent points in regards to Halo & GoW converted armies...Those were my thoughts on the matter too. The BA new army syndrome also played on my mind....Yeah, a very techy tau forgeworld heavy army will be the way I think I'll go...

I've always wanted a Modern Warfare Guard army really bad. I just lack the skills with green stuff to make face masks and backpacks for them, or do they come with backpacks? I dunno

If you make a Gears of War army, are you going to move your army forward 6" then move them back right afterward? are you going to shoot 3" in front of your targets, hoping to hit them?

don't mind me, its not that I hate GoW, I'm one of those sick masochist

who hates the game but somehow got addicted to it at the same time.

The only problem with a halo based army is that models can't jump 736 feet into the air. :/

Definitely Tau but if it were me there'd definitely be some kroot in there

HALO and GoW are.. well lets just say there's quite a large ocean of them and leave it at that.

Tau are better simply for the fact the others are all over played. Being the only non-Space Marine in club means you never have to ask for an opponent, rather a sign which says "Queue Here Please".

Also Death89, how does HALO excise your t-Toxin Sacs?
