Despite a few KS's I'm waiting on, this is the only one where every announcement brings me a sense of anticipation... wish it had come out closer to on time (since the other couple we game with is now moving), but still very excited.

BTW, what's the word on the pledge manager? Still down but not officially closed?

You try sending a message to Anna. I believe it's anna@kingdomdeath.com, but I would check the website before trusting my memory in that.

I sent her an email. If i don't hear back, I'll personally hold you responsible. Or use the KS message function. Whatever's easier.

The detail on those is absurdly good.

Wow.

So....how does everyone plan on basing their minis. I'm not a huge fan of the faces cobblestone that the base inserts have.

I'm with you - I'm pretty sure that none of my minis will be going on the Skullstone Road bases.

I'll probably go with a mix of 'ruins' and rocks and such...

I think I'll just use the faces so they match the game board, though I've been tempted to find some cemetery bases or grasslands to give them an 'Eden gone wrong' type of look.

Or perhaps a wonderland type base, tiles like a checkerboard, croquet pitch, etc.

Hmm.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

That cape is not made of good intentions... in any sense.

Hoping to chop up and mix some "face cobblestone" with more traditional ruins and gravel, get a half-dozen designs, and then cast a bunch of each...

No hard feelings, but I beg to differ It's a solid expression of our weak willed nature; It's screwing with us for not being able to keep our hands off the goods.

So what part of those intentions are good?

(Note, the model is very nice and well done. I am just saying "cape made of dong" doesn't scream "This person means well and can be trusted" )

Great models.

As for basing ideas, I think I'd like to incorporate the face motif into some forest/ruin bases. There were some Scibor bases that make it seem like a good idea.

Spoiler:

Obviously, with fewer skulls. But does anyone know where I can get a bunch of miniature porcelain-esque faces that I can sprinkle all over my bases? Don't recall ever seeing something like that.

I doubt the intention is to make us think twice about what we are buying, but it could be be interpreted as that and then it would be a good intention

I just think it's cool in a "Suckerpunch" way, in how it ridicules the viewer for enjoying cheesecake. I like to believe Mr. Poots went one step further... I mean the devil... has all our dongs... and we pay "him".

Ok... Maybe not good intentions, but you got to love the sentiment. Of course you could interpret it anyway you want, but then the figure wouldn't be as cool (and you'd be wrong)

Those Scibor bases would work very well...

And maybe some 3rd Party base manufacturer will be releasing KD Themed bases too?

Looks to be about a week away from the next "Proper Update"

Jun 29 2014 on Kingdom Death : Monster.

Just a quick update, I got the box friday and we assembled a ton of survivors to show off in the next update. Today we are working, Anna is getting the new sale up, while I am working on important visual documents for the factory. We have gotten into a good work flow, but it requires a huge amount of extra work from me.

Jun 29 2014 on Kingdom Death : Monster.

I don't think I will have the update ready until monday or tuesday. We'll see how much I can get thru before I simply pass out. lol

Jun 29 2014 on Kingdom Death : Monster.

Don't hold me to that tho, there is always the chance something pulls me away that I gotta put full attention into. -_-

And does anyone know if it really was his birthday a few days ago?

@Overworked Adam Do you mean the update and the store sale will go on at the same time?

Just ordered some more goodies.

And I'm really digging the painting guides. Best painted KD miniatures I've seen.

Pin Up Wet Nurse? My my my my my....

Spoiler:

By the by, this is a very interesting bit of information in the Naked Experiment of Death write-up;

The experiment of death is coming to an end. This was Kingdom Death's first experiment in PVC production and we've learned so much about PVC manufacturing through this kit.

PVC is a cost-effective way to mass-produce miniatures. Currently most new board game miniatures are produced in PVC.
PVC is ideal for large, organic figures. We were very happy with the translation of the Wet Nurse.
PVC is less ideal for fine edges and long thin pieces (like swords, armor edges, etc).
We have no plans to reproduce this PVC kit in the future. We are grateful for the fan support in this endeavor so we would like to offer the remaining stock at a special price in a "naked" bundle.

The Bare Experiment of Death is packed loose without a box and includes:
2x PVC Wet Nurse
2x PVC Pinup Twilight Knight
2x (set of 3, 6 total) PVC Female Servants
2 Double sided art cards (while supplies last)

I will say that this evaluation is in complete agreement with what I have found in my Relic Knights figures: large, less armored figures with curves and organic shapes (such as the Noh empire figures) have translated much better then the harder edged armored human figures.

I'd be interested in you providing WIP shots as well as paint recipes.

I've got a lot of skin to be painting up soon, between this, Arena Rex and a shed load of INFINITY...

Oh thats so cute. You said "soon" and "Arena Rex" together

But yeah, would love any help I can get on skin tones, since I'm really poopy at them.
