Question DakkaDakka
So after much consideration I'm thinking of quiting my job for the following reasons
My Boss isn't paying me fairly(pays me less than what I'm supposed to get)
I have to attend unpaid training every Monday, and team bonding every thursday from 8-10/11
My boss encouraged unethical business practices to me
example:for a buy 5 tools get one free, he wanted me to hide the cheap ones so they customer would only buy the expensive ones and if the customer asked about the cheap ones tell them they're aren't part of the deal, when it says but ANY 5 tools get one free
also he is a micromanager,(call him after every sale and listen to what I did wrong)
and finally he is an donkey-cave
example: I told him I needed to go down to Kentucky for a close family member's funereal, and as I left he told me to "have lots of fun and a good time in Tennessee"
sorry for ranting dakka, would you quit in this situation

He sounds like a real pro, stay and learn all of his amazing skills. One day, you'll be as good as him.

I joke of course, I hate micro management. I'm lucky cuz I just do my job with no hassle from management. And that's how it should be, if your doing your job correctly and well then piss off and leave me alone.

He seems to be only concerned about maximising profit so essentially he's probably a pretty awesome sales man with no people skills what so ever by the sounds of things.

At the end of the day, your not happy, not happy enough to write about it here. That tells me one thing. Go and find a job where your going to be happy to work. It might take you a few jobs to find it but when you do you'll be glad you moved on. Good advise from above, find something else first even if its just temporary.

Always try to find another job before leaving the one you are currently in. Being employed makes you much more employable.

Also when you get to an interview, do not run down your current boss/company. The person interviewing you will probably not know them so will be inclined to think "if he speaks about his current employer like this what will he say about me?" You are best off just saying that you are looking for a new challenge.

Once you have a new job, report your current boss to his superiors. By trying to rip off customers he may think he is doing the business a favour, but believe me in the long term he is doing serious damage.

As frustrating as it may be, don't do anything rash in the name of "getting your own back", I have heard of all sorts of employee revenge plots which have backfired, badly. The best thing you can do is turn your back on the place knowing that you are moving on to better things.

Edited to say, good luck with you are interview!!!

Again, get another job lined up before quitting your current one. In fact, try to get more than one! Choice is always a good thing Once you get something sorted, speak to your bosses superior and give them your reasons for leaving the job. Don't be vindictive, just be honest; you'll feel better for having said something and can make a clean break.

I quit a job a few years ago due to my boss being a complete arse and thought it'd be easy to find something else. Cue me spending a month on the dole before finding anything else :( Was quite easily the worst time of my life.

Best of luck with the interview

I guess I'm lucky in that i have a lot of kitchen experience; the turnover in that trade is stupidly high. Still, hope to get out of the current one in a year or so after i finish this bloody degree course

Don't worry, the "Obama plan to get everyone working again by forcing people to pay healthcare, creating more green jobs that require massive start-up to accomplish and the slashing of budgets related to America's greatests strengths" should be rolling into Europe by 2012 when he gets re-elected President of the World.

You took the words right out of my brain warone.

@Huffy:
Take it from someone who has been unemployed for almost a year and has been forced to move back in with mommy and daddy. Finding a job right now can be quite a challenge. I've since given up the job search to concentrate on school. Make damn sure you got another gig lined up first!!!! Otherwise you'll probably be in line behind me at the plasma center.

Big + 1 for finding another job before telling your current boss to take a flying feth at a rolling doughnut.
Your boss does,IMO sound like a fethwad, but sadly what he's doing is "business as usual" in many cases.
Unfortunatly, in the current economic climate, many of the "top dogs" are showing their true colors, both in shoddy customer service & in the manner in wich employes are treated.

I've quit more than one job 'on the spot' - it's very satisfying to just say 'well, feth YOU!' and then walk out. I wouldn't recommend it in your situation, however. That said, in my experience it's never as hard to find a new job as you might think.

A job, no.

A good job. Definitely.

I have to interview prospective employees. Don't talk bad about your past employers during the interview... If anything talk good about them and describe everything you've learned. But as soon as you get your new/better job, go back and tell that boss where to stick his expensive tools.

The best response when someone asks you who your worst manager was is something to the effect of: "each manager I've had has taught me many different things and given me multiple perspectives on a variety of situations"

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

ouch you really hurt my feelings.

A) Inherited money and have no need for a job -> I wish

B) Are homeless -> its too cold in MT to be homeless

C) Are a criminal-> no comment

D) Live with your parents-> I used to

E) Are trying to be cutesy cuz you are an overzealous Deadpool fanboy (no offense... afterall, you have other choices ) -> most likely the case, but I don't see what Deadpool has to do with it, that was just a low blow

But honestly if I had a choice I just wouldn't work...ever.

Sales jobs suck. Not as bad as retail, but not far from it. The hours tend to be flexible though, so you can keep heading out for interviews and no-one will ever know, but other than that sales jobs always suck.

By all means look elsewhere, but make sure you've got something else lined up first, and accept that if you're going in to another sales job it'll probably suck as well.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

@Huffy - How possible is it for you to go (back) to University/College? At least then if you have a gak job (like the one I have...) you'll feel like you're working towards something. It's astounding how much gak that helps you put up with.
