I just was sitting here, adding up how many points I could theoretically field in a single army for an apocalypse game. When I started reaching the 7k range, I began to see just how many models I have. When was the last time you realized you just had too much (as if there is such a thing )?

As you can see from my sig (25k of 40k and lots of other stuff), I have no idea what you're talking about. Although I did reach a point about 4 years ago when I decided I had far too many miscellaneous small armies that I was never going to get around to doing anything significant with. So I traded away all of the small stuff in order to expand my main armies even further!

4500 points Empire 80-90% painted!
2500 Ogres 2% painted
WIP Biker Battle Company 95% painted
2500 Points Isstavan Drop site massacre Iron Hands (still waiting for dat codex)
I managed to play a 1750 point game with minimal proxieing on the first day DE came out. go me!

I've not added everything up yet, but I have enough CSM to field a warband bigger than an Codex Company. I also have like 14 XV-8 Battle Suits, I need a few more though for when I move on to making it more than an Apoc Army, they are gonna be Farsight Enclave btw.
Already have plans for a SW army, whenever I finish my CSM and get a new job.

I'm regretting trying to add more to my 'nid collection, since I don't particularly enjoy playing them anymore. I want my super-carnifexes back!
My IG and SM purchases were worth it though. I'm pretty happy with both.

When I got back in, shortly after 4e was launched, I collected a massive Tau army which had about double everything in the codex. I then added to it when the 4e Tau codex came out. I've even got Vespids! At one stage I had something like 12 tank kits and 20 Crisis suits.
However I came to my senses and was able to sell off a lot of stuff still MIB because I was better at buying new kits than building them.
Now my Tau army is a sensible size and I can realistically think of completing all the painting.

I get that whenever I try to find something in my large boxes of models, however that feeling dissappears as soon as the urge to buy new models comes.

I can field about 70,000 points of painted models for an apoc game (20k orks, 20k daemons, 10k eldar, 10k chaos marines, 10k assorted inquisition stuff), and I've still got a bunch of projects that I'm still working on.
What is this "too much" that you refer to?

No such thing as too much 40k! However, the tipping point was having boxed items that I knew I could never get to assemble much less paint! That's when I knew I had to cut back on the models. Even now, at this point I'll finish painting them all probably by 2014. I dislike the look of my primer grey armies!

Guard players are just about as bad, if they don't run mech lists (like me). I have at least 70 infantry models painted, but around 40 left to go, not to mention my motor pool of 3 LRBTs, 4 Chimeras, 2 Vendettas, and a few odds and ends (basilisk, hellhound, etc).

I realize things may have gotten a bit "out of control" every time I look at my Death Guard,I honestly belive the army has taken on a life of it's own and is growning of it's own free will.
Seriously, I have some where around 8 to 9 thousand points...and I keep adding to it.
And don't get me started on Orkz,I've hit 4,000 points and still want more.
