Hi all!

My 1st post outside the 'Introduction' section!

Just completed painting my very 1st Blood Angel model!

This here is my 'original character', First Captain Angelus Caim, Legionnaire Astartes of the Blood Angels. Master of the First. Archangel of the Sanguinary Guard.

I basically tried to make him as ornate as possible. This model was created using the Chaos Terminator Lord boxed set as the 'base'.

- Filed/sliced off the Chaosy arrows
- Filed/sliced off all Chaosy icons
- Used purity seals to cover up my shoddy filing/slicing.
- Used the dual lightning claws from the Chaos Lord box. (The Chaos lightning claws look alot more ornate, don't you think?)
- Pauldrons are from the Warmachine Protectorate of Menoth Bastions. Just did some slicing, greenstuffing and pinning to the arms.
- Modified a regular Terminator helmet to make it look like the one used by Grey Knight Terminators. (Surprisingly easy to do!)
- Wings taken from Sanguinor
- Modified a Sanguinary Guard chestplate to replace the standard Terminator chestplate.
- Made the long scrolls on the pauldrons from a bus ticket.

Any feedback and comments from you dakka veterans would be much appreciated!

WOW !!!

Fantastic conversion !!!

I need to take a closer look at that CSM Terminator Lord ... I'm seeing great potential for a Space Wolf Character I have in mind.

Really cool! Could you show how to fix the helmets to look like GK ones?

Ho. Ly. gak. Absolutely incredible! Not only is the work excellent, but combines with the name and titles you've given him makes the reader actually care about the character. I'd love to read some fluff on him.

The only thing I have to point out is that traditioanlly, the chapter master is also the captain of the 1st Company, so it would be Dante for the Blood Angels. But tere are still plenty of other awesome positions he could hold.

This is very cool ideed. I always wanted to modify some of the CSM kits, just never had the guts I suppose.

This also really makes me wanna paint my ultramarines red

That is an impressive amount of work, and the painting is superb. However, I find him to look a bit silly. The giant shoulderpads, cape, and wings make him look really over the top. Just one or two would be okay, but all three is a tad ridiculous. However, from a technical standpoint, he's a really impressive figure - I especially like the converted power armor torso.

Thank you guys, for all your feedback so far!

@Gunzhard: Yeah, I totally agree. I didn't notice it until i was taking the photograph. Well, what's done is done, isn't it?

@Myrthe: The Chaos Terminator Lord is pretty much a treasure trove of bits for conversion, IMHO! The only problem is getting rid of the chaosy icons and stuff... That was a b*tch. lol

@Myrthe and Little lord Fauntleroy: Yup, correct! My method is pretty much like the one described in the link!

@big mek boomsnikk: Hmm... Let's see... This model took parts from 6 seperate models/kits. Argggh... I don't know how much that costed me! But in the end, the final result was worth it, to me at least! Yeah, now that have the codex, I realise Sepharan (sp?) is the leader of the Sanguinary Guard. But the idea of my model was conceived and first built waaaay before the new BA codex came out. So yeah! lol

@Commander Endova: Haha, no fluff as of yet! Maybe in future.

@FoxPhoenix135: I play 40K, Fantasy and Flames of War, that's it! And I only seriously convert my 40K models. I especially love converting HQs. I have EIGHT different Captains, all converted to various degress, for my Ultramarines. . And you are right, I have been playing 40K for close to 15 years now.

@Brother SRM: Haha, now that you mentioned it, I do tend to convert my models to over-the-top levels! But yeah, on hindsight and given another chance, I'd not use the cape. Oh well, what's done is done, no?

@fallen_wolfborn, brother_zach, HamHamLunchbox and Death Gear: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

While I agree that the miniature is fantastic, you're pointing out lies and also lies. The Chapter Master is not the Captain of the 1st Company in any tradition founded on the Codex Astartes. The Captain of the 1st Company is traditionally the Chapter Master's successor. According to p.9 of Codex: Blood Angels, Dante is the Master of the Chapter, while Karlaen is the Master of the 1st Company.

Rules-wise I recommend the Mark of Khorne, a pair of Lightening Claws, and a Personal Icon!
