Today, I finally retired my meganobz. Out of the figure case, and into the display case. Regularly I bring about 2000+pts to my FLGS when I go to try and get some games in, adjusting my list on the spot to the point value I am playing. My meganobz have been in my case, and forming a part of my list, for the past 6 months or so, but after today I decided they needed to get the axe. After one stupendous inaugural game, they have completely flopped. Today, vs space wolves, they charged 7 blood claws, and in the end both units were slaughtered to a man, 210 points of meganobz killed by 140 points of blood claws. I didn't even roll poorly.

As a result I have placed my finely painted and based bad moon meganobz into my display case, most likely to remain untouched and ungamed with for the foreseeable future. My meganobz that I spent hours painting yellow, and detailing with the appropriate iconography. Can anyone else relate to my disappointment, so much work put in to a unit that winds up being so worthless in your list that you wind up shelving them for good? Commiserate with me.

My beautiful assault marines, they lost three straight combats in a row against a 5 man unit of stealth suits. At the end of the game there was only one left, and not one of his buddies had died from shooting

My Night Lords, a formerly all stealth/scout army, now useless since I cant afford several rhinos. 80 CSM's in 1850 used to give people fits.

My Daemon supported Black Legion. The daemon-lite support in the CSM codex left this army useless.

And my favorite looted Orky Demolisher, I jsut cant run it as a Boomwagon after it held the center of my ork army for so many years.

You shelved your Nobz after one bad game? A bit overkill, I'd say. My Space Wolves had two bad games in a row, which led to me shelving them for about a month. Right now they're back in action on their penance crusade, and so far they're not disappointing. Under performing models just need a break is all

However, my old Ultramarines army has been shelved. I painted most of them when I was about 13, and they look pretty lousy. Some of them will be stripped and see service again as Flesh Tearers though... I guess even Ultras can succumb to the Black Rage.

My Imperial Guard.

Never had fun playing them. They are now all scattered in my garage, most likely in pieces.

The 5th edition codex was the last straw. Oh well.

:edit: About 1/4 of the army is in pieces. Hehe. Maybe one day I will get around to selling the bastards.

I think, given the opportunity to individually equip standard nobs with pks, bps, bcs etc, give them cybork and FNP painboy... Why the hell would you take MANs? If they removed S&P then maybe?

For me:

My trukks. It's like they're for taking a little unit of orks into the open and then exploding, leaving the cargo prone and alone.

They are useless, I'm a battlewagon boy now.

Orks would really benefit from an in-between vehicle like that forgeworld bigtrack, or looted transport with a profile like a rhino/chimera.

My Landradier. Alas, you cant not fit in a 1750 point game. You and you terminator brethren will have to wait for 2000 points then. (And the bugger always seems to explode.

I have a lot of hours into a DH army thats stays packed. Including a few LRs that I've had NO luck with. Not in the time of Deep strike melta death. I've also packed up 'nids since I play against SW about 95% of the time. No fun. I may use them in tourneys and leagues however.

My Chaos Marines, the whole army has been shelved in the cabinet at the moment. Something just annoys me about the whole Icon system.

Seriously I'd pay triple the points just to have them classified as a mark, and not this we're suddenly not Nurgle anymore because Bob got shot nonsense we have now.

My Black Templars. I started them when the first BT codex came out, and they progressed so slowly I was still working on them when the last codex was released. So I revised them, but didn't finish them. That codex is now so badly out of step with the rest of the Marine codexes that I've given up - the finished BT models are in the display case, and the rest have been consigned to a box. I'll probably sell off most of the models (or at least the vehicles) when the next codex comes out.

My Dark Eldar have been in the display case for many years. I sold most of the models and kept the best ones.

I just alternate games with my 4 armies.

I'm not remotely concerned with my win/loss record. I CHOSE these armies because of certain elements that I liked or for the conversion possibilities. It was not a spur of the moment purchase for any of them. If I did not like the majority of models/units in the army, I would not play it.

I've not shelved any unit. There are a handful of units I've not used yet, or do not have, but nothing gets shelved.
