As most of you know, I hate futuristic stuff... just never really got into it. That being said, I am always willing to take something from a futuristic setting and convert it to my minds eye view of what it really should have been to begin with...

Recently GW produced the upgrades to the Tyranids. All over the magazines, the website, could not get away from looking at them. Well, for me, all I saw were little Daemons just waiting to be born (now worries Reaper fans, plenty of room in this army for all those cool Reaper minis as well)...

So, without further ado, here is the 500 point list...

Herald of Khorne -- 100 points
10 Bloodletters with full command -- 150 points
10 Horrors with full command -- 150 points
8 Furies -- 96 points

And so our story begins:
In a place far north, further north than any mortal has ever ventured, and yet also in no place at all... a gathering had begun. The Gods of Chaos had come together, all of them, for a meeting that would finally secure the world and force chaotic worship on all. Khorne, the Blood God and deathbringer; Nurgle, the plaguefather and blightbringer; Tzeentch, the Great Conspirator and changebringer; and Slaanesh, the Dark Seducer and pleasurebringer. All of these Gods gathered for they all felt the same thing, the chains that bound them to the Wastes were loosening, as if some great force were moving through the world. So weak were these chains that the Gods were now able to combine there wills, and create Daemons the like of which the world had never seen. Born of the will of four Gods, these daemons would bring a new era of Chaos upon the world.

And here is a glimpse of the first unit, as it is pieced together.

Meangreen: Sorry mate... :(

Interesting indeed!

I'd be interested in a profile shot of the musician. Is the shield a biomorph?

I think I'm just too staunch in my fluff, it looks like tyranids holding swords.

Sorry. =(

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I had the same trouble when Ben Browder and Claudia Black joined Stargate SG1, I'd been an avid farscape fan for the entire time then seeing them together in something else felt odd.

I am seeing the tyranids and the medieval weapons and there is a mental impasse for me.

they look good for what they are.. but i just see tyranids holding swords as well. perhaps adding more to them, to make them look a bit more humianoid might help, idk. hormagaunts with a sword and shield. ur modeling is nice though, i like the ones that are jumping

Ok guys, here is a first run at one of these. Keep in mind the details still need to get done, and probably a few final highlights here and there. Also, the lava base is only in the red stage at this point. The intent was to use reds (khorne), greens (nurgle), blue/pink (tzeentch), and palish white (slaanesh).

malfred: Thanks mate.

The Good Green: Not really sure what a biomorph is, but I don't think so. The idea is that he punched is claw through a shield and is now banging on it...

MeanGreen: Probably easier for me since I don't really follow 40K... though I do promise more in the way of conversion for the horrors...

epil: JEDI MIND TRICK *they are bloodletters holding swords*.... does that help?

no go for me too unfortunately due to my familiarity with 40k... you are taking unmodified nids for the most part and putting swords in their hands and calling them bloodletters.

That's like giving a space marine a shuriken catapult and saying check out my eldar... or maybe clearer, putting a hammer in an elf's hand and saying it is a dwarf. For most people these will be very recognizable models, and taking pretty much unmodified models from extremely recognizably designed army and saying they are actually another unit that most people are very familiar with, it doesnt jibe. I doubt anyone even remotely familiar with 40k is going to see anything but nids when they look at them.

That being said it's too bad, because they are really, really nicely painted lol... I would advise to focus your energies on using models for the armies they are meant for, or modify them SIGNIFICANTLY so that although they recognizably use bits from a line, they are clearly not meant to be even close. That or perhaps use models from other lesser known companies? I know they are just toy soldiers but you are obviously (and in many ways rightfully) proud of your work, don't set yourself up for a harsh reaction when the solution obvious.

Best of luck, and please take it as just an opinion at worst -

I'd like to see them next to some other Fantasy models. It still looks like some tyranids just blow through a chaos goons. But I can see how, to a WHFB character, they would look like demons. So, I say again, I'd like to see them in your fantasy setting.

I´m a bit confused to say the least ... I like the idea and I understand if U don´t like the "real" bloodletters but I think U should maybe have chosen a bit more reddish tone and also maybe file of something on their head´s making them look less tyranid ... And also have more symbol´s putting them in the right team ... ?

I don´t know but I will follow this thread and see what happen´s .

Good basing though and the action in the squad is superb ...
