Fenris

i got a mail from gw today that confirmed that fenrisian wolves CAN deepstrike(wargear fenrisian wolves)

so,first of all:thunderwolves

what bases do you recommend? i may field some in a tourny and will use wulfen as thunderwolves.
but should i put them on 25/40/60 mm bases or bikebases?

and 2:

if i equip wolfguard with jumppacks, can they deepstrike?

rulebook says that they can,but the entry in the sw codex only mentions the bloodclaws regarding deepstrike

^_^

1) either 40mm or the 60mm bases used by Juggernaughts, whcih they resemble in size, is what id suggest. Canis is also a clue!

2) Yes, as all jump infantry may DS

I would just go for the 60mm and if they come out to be smaller rebase them.

No Fenrisian Wolves can't deepstrike so a character with them also cannot deepstrike

1) I would say 60mm, simply because the only Thunderwolf Model avauilable is on a 60mm
2) Yes, since they are Jump Infantry
2a) No. Fenrisian Wolves are wargear but also models with their own profile and unit type, so they cannot Deep Strike.

Quick question that relates.
Right when the SW codex came out I created some thunderwolf cav on some 40mm bases. Recently though I have been getting resin sculpts on a 60mm base.
My question is, is it legal to field two or more thuderwolf cav units in the same squad (or even same board) with both 40mm and 60mm?
Since there is no ruling on the actual size of the base I do not see any issue with it, but I am far from a rules master.
Thanks.

It's not "legal" to use ANY of them, since they are not Technically Citadel Models.

That being said, you will have an easier time just sticking your 40mm guys onto 60mm bits of card until you re-base them properly.

There is no official base size, however many opponents will not be comfortable with models from the same unit having differing base sizes.

60mm is almost guaranteed to be the eventual base size, given that's what Canis is on, and that's what Bloodcrushers (the closest model to them, stat-wise) are on.

I'd pull those 40mm bases and use them for something else.

The question is...why would you take Wolves in a Deep Strike situation...they take up twice as much space as a model in Power Armor in a Drop Pod and well...if you can take wolves along with a character that has a Jump Pack...then the character cannot move faster than 6" without running and well, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a Jump Pack, don't you think?

Sorry, but I wasn't.

An email from "Someone at GW" is about as conclusive as me saying "I am made of Banana."
Just so you know, their job is to pack boxes. They have, on average, as much rules knowledge as a poodle. Email them again and you will 99% likely get a different answer.
RaW, they cannot Deep Strike. If you want to make up rules, that's your business, but that is not what the RaW says.

Point out the entry in the Fenrisian Wolves profile that includes Deep Strike. This is akin to having a unit of jump infantry with a wolf lord attached that does not have a jump pack. They cannot Deep Strike, because he cannot Deep Strike.

Wolf Lord with a Jump Pack cannot Deep Strike because Fenrisian wolves he has bought as wargear cannot Deep Strike.

At 8 AM today in another thread you posted that there was a 110% chance of getting a different answer. Are they really getting more consistant?

I'm just messing with you, Gwar. Carry on.

You say that but the German team have an editor which is more than GWUK has and their codexes tend to have typos fixed before printing - it's possibethey have a dedicated rules/faq guy.
