Hey guyz
Ok, so i have seen a few orginal chapters poping up (mantis warriors for example) and i was just wondering what the other chapters that were in the 1 edtion of the SM codex were. So, could you guyz/galz please tell me, i would like to know cuz i am thinking about starting another SM army but i don't want to do a mainstream chapter... And i would prefer to not do a DIY chapter. call me lazy

If you mean rogue trader there were; rainbow warriors, flesh tearers, dark angels, space sharks and blood angels.

I might be wrong on some of them but im pretty sure most of them were in there.

Okay, here's the full list of what was in Rogue Trader:

- Blood Angels (Red and Black)
- Blood Drinkers (Red-Brown is listed for their color scheme, but it's really more just like Red and Yellow in the picture - it's just a darker red, really)
- Crimson Fists (Blue and Red)
- Dark Angels (in their Black and Red Color scheme - which I personally prefer over their current green scheme)
- Flesh Eaters (Red and White)
- Flesh Tearers (Black and Yellow)
- Iron Hands (Black and White)
- Rainbow Warriors (Blue w/ a Rainbow Stripe)
- Silver Skulls (Silver and Black)
- Space Wolves (Gray and Yellow)
- Ultramarines (Blue and White)
- White Scars (White and Red)

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Little extra info back in RT the ultra's were actually a 2nd or later founding chapter rather than one of the original 18.

They were actually BOTH. There was an earlier Ultramarines chapter that fell to Chaos(as mentioned in the Half-Eldar Chief Librarian's fluff) and then the Loyalist chapter that was a later founding.

Hey Platuan4th, weren't the CF's originally a First Founding chapter?

I'd have to check the books.

It's not in RT. I could swear I've seen it somewhere, but it's been so long ago that I can't remember the source anymore.

There was NO 1st edition codex for SM.

At least, not as you know them post 2nd ed.

There were some army lists published (mainly in WD - although Chapter Approved, the First Book of the Astronomican also featured them - and a Space Wolves/Orks campaign.).

Blood Angels (Red and Black)
- Blood Drinkers (Red-Brown is listed for their color scheme, but it's really more just like Red and Yellow in the picture - it's just a darker red, really)
- Crimson Fists (Blue and Red)
- Dark Angels (in their Black and Red Color scheme - which I personally prefer over their current green scheme)
- Flesh Eaters (Red and White)
- Flesh Tearers (Black and Yellow)
- Iron Hands (Black and White)
- Rainbow Warriors (Blue w/ a Rainbow Stripe)
- Silver Skulls (Silver and Black)
- Space Wolves (Gray and Yellow)
- Ultramarines (Blue and White)
- White Scars (White and Red)

That's the 12 as listed in the original RT rulebook and on the artwork for the RTB001 SM set.

Yes, Blood Drinkers and Flesh Tearers date back to 1st ed. They weren't BA successors back then, either.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

- At the time of RT, there were no 'first foundings' or Primarchs or Heresy. So the ten chapters in the RT book were just the ten they illustrated - ten examples of space marine chapters. The foundings/Primarchs/Heresy fluff came later, in the RT supplements (Compilation, Compendium and Astronomican and the Realms of Chaos books).

- There was no SM codex for the 1ed of the game. In fact, there were no codexes at all. The first SM Codexes were Codex: Ultramarines and Codex: Angels of Death in 2ed.

The RT book also has a rather interesting pic of an Ultramarine and Blood Angels in camouflage and a "field police" uniform

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
