As you can see from the tile, pretty self explanatory.

The first episode is SWAT vs. GSG9.

Anybdoy else excited to laugh at the hilariously horribly acted out battle scenes?

I love that show but I'm pretty sure that the computer program they use is just a random number generator and there is no scientific reason anyone ever wins on that show.

I'm more excited about their terrible methodology.

Hmm, how do we measure the effectiveness of a shield? Oh, I know, we see how much blunt force it will inflict when you hit someone in the head with it!

And don't forget the absurd pairings and arbitrary weapon choices!

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I know and I love how they don't put any of the enemies respective armour on the dummies when testing the weapons "effectiveness".

I am a millitary history buff and I also do Medevil reinactment, so we love it as a guilty pleasure.
I do have to say this much, I don't agree with most of their testing methods, but so far I agree with most of thier results.

I too love that show. I mostly agree with the outcomes and also laugh at how they come up with the ways to compare and such. I love watching them test the swords by slicing cows in half. Yea thats pretty awesome, but that guy is wearing full metal armor soooooo...........

I believe that KGB v. CIA has already been done in real life.

More importantly, for the purposes of this show, what unique weapons would KGB and CIA operatives use?

OSS vs. Gestapo would be far more interesting, even if it had a direct, historical corollary.

Their methodology sucks and even their "conclusions" don't make it into the simulation at times. Like the pirates pistols being totally useless against a knight's armor and the blunderbuss being 50/50 against it at close range? Nope, come simulation time those are kill shots almost every time.

Still, it's entertaining even if its just entertaining bs. Best part is watching the fanboys they bring in strut and posture.

Actually I like several of these matchups as being more even and a better test.
Comanches were the best light cavalry in NA, and arguably the world. Mongols were the best in their time. Both are similarly armed although Comanches would have better horses.

The Celts look pretty equal to an immortal as well. Light to nonexistent armor, iron weaponry.

I'd still like to see Centurion vs. 14th century samurai vs. 14th century knight.

I want to see Wild Bill Hickock vs. Mushashi.

I love this show. Its great entertainment and its always fun to see how humans do and used to kill eachother

The super b-movie fight at the end is also fun as well; the show very much captures the feeling of those nerd arguments everyone's had about Samurai versus Knight.

Definitely shouldn't be taken too seriously but there really is no way to definitively say who'd win in these hypothetical fights imo.

Although I think Hickock would definitively win against musashi...

SWAT vs. GS9 was good popcorn entertainment. However as they are so similar it was reduced to false comparison (taser vs. stun grenade? hey they both have stun grenades). Interesting to see the GS9 with the old reliable 870. You'd have thought they'd have some sort of uber expensive uber complicated H&K shotgun.

The "science" behind the show is downright sad, and the choices regarding the matches as well as the equipment is almost random in some cases (Ninja vs Spartan wtf do they have in common), however others are quite decent like Yakuza vs Mafia.

While I dislike a lot about the show (like their fake experts), I still enjoy it a lot because its quite entertaining and makes me think long and hard about a few of them.

Every single time I pretend to hold a sword I remember the scene where the Scottish Claymore decapitates 3 test dummies in one strike.

Waaagh!

This show puzzles me. As many mentioned the awkward weapon match-ups ( such as the yakuza sai, they should of used what they mostly use like the katana or the hatchet).

The tests make me lol, like the spetsnaz and green berets grenade. Lets put the russian grenade in a washing machine and see if it the U.S grenade makes a bigger explosion if we threw it in a glass tube filled with dummies.

And in the same episode, the m16 was better than the AK-74, in some aspects yes, but they should have taken into account of the AK's construction and such. But those "experts" just go by what is Awesomer and makes Moar Bluld.

IRA=Fail.

Spetsnaz had kill in the 700's, making it the most one sided fight yet.

This new season looks AMAZING! I can't wait. Though the tests they show and the weapon pairings are a little dubious, the actual program must be a little more sophisticated, as most of the results make sense.

Yakuza vs. Mafia was one of the better episodes... Shaolin Monk vs. Maori was just a ridiculous matchup, though. I mean, come on... no matter how you look at it, it's swords versus clubs and sticks and for their smaller size those monks are still pretty damn tough.
