Dead tired and looking forward to reading Adam's update in my down time tonight.

Hopefully he doesn't fall asleep at his keyboard.

he's said it will be a day or two,

but has let slip

Spoiler:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The arms will take some putty work at the shoulder joints to look their best, but I think their was no better option with no clothing to mask the joint (and to allow maximum poseability)

edit: spoiler added for those that asked for it

Unisex hands? That's going to give all the women a bad case of man-hands. (Or all the men little girls hands).

Either way - someone's getting some funky hands.

Hmmm there's something a bit wrestling toy/action man figure about the male torsos and I can see why he's had trouble with the kits that said it's probably only the unarmoured kit that has the problem as the others have clothing to mask the joins better. The rest looks good and on the plus side lots of spare heads to use on other figures/ranges (that might have soft facial details perhaps).

(and yeah Sinful Hero has a point it's next to impossible to view that image on a phone screen)

Hopefully the spare heads will scale well with Relic Knights. My Cerci Pit Crew could use a head with a more detailed face than Slenderman.

The thing I hate most about huge pictures like that is when I hit "First Unread" it drags me back up to the picture everytime.

Yeah, those 'smooth backed' torsos are a rare misstep here...

I have a theory - probably a crazy one - that could explain the plain back issue. So - the survivors just kind of come into existence. I think that the Scribe writes them into existence as what he thinks as idealized human creatures. Also - the smaller male starting survivor looks a lot like the Scribe, leading me to believe that the Scribe is a bit vain. Could the reason that the survivors lack back muscles be that the Scribe only pays attention to the "mirror muscles" and facial details when creating survivors and just skipped putting any thought into the back muscles?
But seriously - these look great, would have loved for the backs to be a bit more detailed, but I hope that my team will have armor on before long so not really an issue. Really looking forward to receiving my big box and putting some of these together!

I'm not very impressed with these. The two lower body options for each sex look like they are mirrors of each other, and the upper bodies look almost identical as well. So there isn't much variety. Add in the fact that the hand options only include holding a lantern, holding a rock, or shaking hands(?), and aside from the heads they will all look pretty much the same. And yes, it looks like somebody just forgot to finish sculpting the backs on these.

There are a good variety of heads, which is nice, though I don't understand why they included two of each of them on a sprue that only has two male and two female figures. Are people going to want to make two of the exact same guy? Hopefully the more open hands are designed to hold weapons from the other kits, which will allow more variety. In that case, maybe the idea is that you would actually make two of the exact same person, they'd just have different weapons and equipment to represent advancement in the game over time.

To be fair, you're probably going to spend only a session or two as the lowly toga-clad survivor. Then on to bigger and better things.

Multiple heads are great for models wearing armour.

The survivor kits are designed to be mixed and matched - so this is why this one looks a little underwhelming in terms of options. Each armor kit makes 2 male and 2 female survivors, and has all of the options for that armor kit in terms of weapons and extras. So - one might take the unarmed upper body but have a bone helmet and lion weapons. I also suspect that there are so many heads because this kit is the only source of unarmored heads in the game.

The variety comes from the amount of different options and how you choose to put them together. I am hoping to see a lot of different combinations once the game is out and see how they work together.

I suspect the heads were included because there was space on the sprue, once Adam included the stuff there had to be there, you can leave it empty or (for a bit more cash in terms of milling time) you can fill it with something as the outer frames will be a standard size

(it also means you can use the same head on one of the 'armour kit' bodies if you're not using or don't have a helmet which is going to be very useful for those building as they play)

I'm quite disappointed there isn't a bald screaming man-head. I thought that was standard?

Oh dear, I'm disappointed with these.

They do look very much like action figures. In hindsight they should have been sculpted with some minor clothiing items, if only to hide the joints where the arms meet the body.

I would have much preferred it if Poots had the resin bare survivors cast in restic(!) instead of these multi-part hard plastic monstrosities.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if HaleysRedComet is a Poots sock puppet...the justifications for the poor sculpting are a little too in-depth

...or he's just a fan of the Mythos. I would assume that would be more likely, as Poots posts here every now and again and needs no sock puppets to sing his praises.

Are these the four named starting survivors? I thought they were extra, generic survivors.

In any case, the backs are a bit odd but still acceptable. The eyes on some of heads look missing and that's an very odd.

I'm not sure, hopefully they are extra, generic survivors.

I hadn't noticed the eyes, they do look odd.

I am just a fan - and my explanation was not meant to be entirely serious. Thanks for assuming that I am a sock puppet though, my whole 2 post history really provides a ton of evidence for it.

I think that whole Sock Puppet thing was a joke!

Anyway...

The Unarmored Survivors are the first 'chink in the armor' for KD: M, I think.

It isn't a huge deal, but...

The back?

The weird 'missing' eyes?

Odd...

Looking at the picture again, and the title Unarmored Kit, leads me to believe that, yes, these aren't the four named starting survivors. Could always be wrong, of course, but I doubt it.

Everything we've seen so far for KD:M from Adam has been great, resins and plastics. The only real issue with the above miniatures is perhaps the posing (and missing eyes maybe).

I'm still happy with their quality but they don't wow me like KD stuff usually does.

Ugh - sorry, just noticed the smiley faces. I hope the eyes are more evident on the minis when they are in hand, some of them have eyeballs but some look like they are really deep in there.

Yeah, I used the laughing ork emoticon to try and keep it humorous, it was intended as being light hearted but I apologise for any offence caused.

Regarding the odd eyes, I might paint mine with blood coming from the sockets to make them look extra creepy.

Then again, that may make them look a little too creepy. Especially in a world full of boob monsters and lions with penis-tails.

Yeah these are generic unarmoured survivors we already saw the 4 starting survivors in plastic in update #82

From what we can see, the Starting 4 seem to have backs that are better defined.
