Ok, im a good way into building my Orks now.
Im not a very good painter but i find it relaxing and fun ( http://www.cliffisen.blogspot.com).
Its only that im getting tired of painting green all the time, so i need to start something new.
What im thinking of is Tau (have an old Armybox in the closet not even opened), Necron (same here... a full freaking box)
and IG.
Before i was torn between IG and Ork and i went for Orks.
My question is how are Tau and Necron in a turnament, are they "good" or rubbish ?
Im thinking codex wise, ofc a good general could make some things work better then others.
And last, how are Tau and Necrons to play, fun or what ?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, after a few searches i find that Necrons isnt really an army for me. Sounds dull as it is now (might change if/when the new codex comes).
So its between IG and Tau.
What i heard IG can be practically anything (mech, footy ect) the codex is offering huge choices and it has a competitive codex (turny wise).
But what about Tau, some people say it sucks other say the opposite.
What do you guys and galls think of the Tau vs IG ?

Tau and Necrons are rubbish in tournaments comparing to IG, so go with traitor IG. BTW getting replies to your thread can be really hard and long, I learned it with my P&M blog.

Go Guard! It's your original 2nd choice, and now has lots of options, from a new modern Codex.

I think your are right. I just feel bad for my Tau/Necrons... they are going back into the closet
I noticed that i even have the IG codex next to my bed... so i take that as a sign :S
I have been trying to do a nice 750 pointer list too begin with, its just that there are so many (to many?!) choices.
Ill just search around and see what i find. Thx all for the replies !

One of my friends plays pretty much every army in 40K (geek) and he is good with all of them although Guard is his most evil army last week I watched him anihalate first a Space Wolves Army (not Mine) and then a Blood Angels Army by the end of turn 2 with Tau at 2000pts so they can be very competetive if you know how to use them.

Not a good painter? Your work is damn fine. Anyway, onto the task at hand!
Last year when the Guard codex came out, I decided it would be fun to paint the Guard and my Orks at the same time. This was a mistake, as painting two hordes at once is really exhausting! However, once my Orks slowed down I got to really get to work on the Guard, and I'm enjoying them a lot. They're fun to play and fun to paint. If you're tired of painting green you may want to dream up a new paint scheme though. You can do just about anything with Guard - infantry horde, mechanized tank rush, artillery, footsloggers, even some kind of bastardized melee army with Straken and Penal Legion.
Check out the Guard codex and see what appeals to you - it really is a great book with lots of competitive and flavorful units.
