Hey everyone, figured I'd throw some of my recent pieces up here for some C&C.

First off, my newest toy from Forge World, the Hydra! I'm about 95% done with it, I need to drill out the bolter, paint the tarp, and add a little more battle damage. The barrels are being a pain in the butt, I need to work a little more to get them totally straightened.

Here's a close up of the driver, I really liked out he turned out!

Here's my newest Leman Russ, it was payment for a squad of Ogryns I did for a friend, I really like how the Plasma Cannon and the searchlight turned out!

Next up is my redone Ogryn Bone 'ead, I really needed to bring him up to par with the rest of my army, so I redid his bionics, his ripper gun, and his gut plate, I think he turned out much better this time!

Last up is my Standard Bearer, I never run one in my army, but I figured I'd paint one up for good measure. The top script is my Guard's Planet, Granex (better than Cadia )

There we go, I'll have an Officer of the Fleet done soon, as well as a new company commander! Comments and Criticisms are welcome, I'm always trying to make my work better!
Thanks,
Granesh

Brilliant work. Love the scheme you paint- very John Blanche.
The weathering on your Hydra and Russ is fantastic! Would you mind sharing how you achieved it?

Finally, IMO a converted chainsword would look really good on the Ogryn- never been a big fan of fantasy models in 40k, and I think it still resembles an ogre too much with that sword for my tastes.

Still, excellent work and I look forward to seeing the rest of your creations!

And FYI Cadia is the best!

@CadianXV: Very John Blanche? Sir you have me flattered
I'm glad you like my pieces, both tanks were done using drybrushing of all things. After priming, I coated the whole tank in Scorched Brown, then gradually mixed in Bestial Brown and drybrushed it across the tank. Eventually, I used pure Bestial Brown, then mixed in some Bleached Bone to give it that golden brown colour. As for weathering, I use a piece of sponge or blister foam torn up into little chunks, dipped in Black, Charadon Granite, or Chainmail, then spotch it across the vehicle.
As for the chainsword...its brilliant...how did I never think of it....consider it done!

@Flying Pooo: Why thank you sir, it was a lot of fun to paint...assembling is a whole other story....

As always, I love getting comments on my stuff, so keep it coming guys!

That's some really nice stuff you have there. With regards to the assembling being a pain, mind sharing the story? I'm thinking of getting at least one of these so wouldn't mind knowing just what I'm letting myself in for

Good work, love it. Both the armour is awesome.

The barrels are being a pain in the butt, I need to work a little more to get them totally straightened.

It is a real shame about bent stuff. I have just got a dkok commisar (exelent model) which had a bent sword, I was just looking how to straighten and the thing broke off !!!

Wow, I appreciate all the comments!
@Natorum: The back half of the Hydra is resin. Not only was the top plate warped, but its about 2 or 3 mm off from fitting snug in between the Chimera Tracks. I ended up using more super glue then I had wanted, but rubber bands wrapped around the piece for an hour set it straight!

@inmygravenimage: The Ripper gun was actually a lot of fun to do, and if I had a spare heavy bolter lying around, I'd throw a tutorial up. The base is the heavy bolter, sawed off at about where the shells are ejected. The front gun is 4 plasticard tubes glued on, with one bigger greenstuffed in to give it a gatling gun look. Another bit of large plasticard tube was added to give the gun a drum, then the heavy bolter ammo piece was added to the same side to bulk it out a bit.

@-=Scar=-:

@Sharpasaspoon: Aw thats no good man! Maybe with the sword off of the model it will be easier to straighten?

I finished my Officer of the Fleet last night, and started painting my new company commander...I'll put up a picture of my old one too.
Thanks!
Granesh

Alright guys, here's some more pictures of some infantry, I'll get a full army shot at some point.

My camera just didn't want to get a better picture of him, I guess this'll work. He looks better zoomed in, jump on my gallery and check him out there.

My current Company Commander, he was fun to do, but he just doesn't fit the fluff of my army, so he'll probably sit on my shelf. He's made out of an Empire Steam Tank driver, some greenstuff, and some fw bitz. The pictures dont do this guy justice...

One of my favorite pieces to date is my Commissar, I've always loved this model, and after watching my squads run off the board, I figured I'd pick one up for my army. I have one more unpainted, I'll have pics up at some point!

And lastly, I got him off of Ebay for CHEAP! I hate the current model, but this one just has so much character. I'll do a really nice back banner for him at some point, there was no way I was able to transport him while I was at college, so I held off on it.

As always, comments are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Granesh

Well done. I knew I regonised that Tervigon.

Thanks guys, that Tervigon was the first of three I've done so far...keep an eye out for LordFiend's painted one, that's the most recent one I did. The piece I'm working on now is a new Company Commander built from this colorful character:

I also have some Death Company coming (no I haven't been bit by the bangles bug...yet) to enter into BOLS newest painting contest...so keep an eye out for that!
Thanks!

Alright, here's some more pictures of my latest piece, as well as some older pieces I finally got a good picture of.

First off is my Company Commander, I just love this model, it has so much character, plus he just works for a Company Commander. The legs are made of greenstuff and a pair from the Catachan Command Squad.

Here he is with the rest of his Command Squad, this picture turned out much better than I thought it would.

Figured I'd throw up a pic of one of my Psykers, I got a group of familiars and servo-skulls from a friend and they added a lot of personality and individuality to the unit. Excuse the pic, its a little blurry...

I should probably start a blog....meh....alrighty, as usual guys, C&C is appreciated! I'd love to get some votes in the gallery too!
Thanks!

i really think you did an epic job on the company commander its a really nice piece.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

@Orky-Kowboy: Nah I didn't greenstuff the goatee, that's why I loved the model in the first place, little details like that added a lot of detail and gave the model a lot of personality!
@Sgt.Roadkill: Why thank you, Forge World does some great stuff with resin.

Alrighty, I'm in the process of redoing all of my chimeras right now, I've got one almost finished, expect pictures after work tonight!
Thanks,
Granesh

The legs are a couple of mm too long for the body, making him look out of proportion.

I'd have shaved the legs off a little more to make it look better, myself.

As it is, not a bad effort.

Shame about the hydra. Still, that'll learn 'em for getting the parts out of the mould before they cure.

@Gamer123789: Why thank you, I'll throw up some pictures of the entire army, as well as individual Infantry Squads soon.

@LunaHound & Chromedog: HOW DARE YOU! I'm kidding, the legs were a pain to find in the first place, in person, they don't look so long and weird, but they make him a little taller than the regular troopers and more heroic.

@Alarmingrick: Thank you sir, those are probably two of my favorite models in the army.

So I was staring at my company command squad, and for some reason I'm not digging the vox or the medic anymore...should I tweak them a bit? I really like Col. Corbane's Doc Butcher over at http://corbaniaprime.blogspot.com/

I completely forgot to bring my camera to work (I work for my family during the summer, and they own a restaurant), and my lighting at home stinks, so I'll remember to throw some pictures up tomorrow. I've got my revamped Valkyrie done, and another one in the box, but I can't put that one together yet until I add some...well you all'll just have to wait
Thanks,

Alright guys, sorry for the delay, my computer was stupid, pictures were deleted, and I couldn't find any time to do it...but I'll always find time for you, Dakka
Anywho...alrighty, here's my latest project, my Company Command Chimera!

Detail of the driver, he's out of one of Games Workshop's recent wins: The Tank Commander Blister!

Here's the chimera with my Hydra, just to get an idea of the cohesiveness of the army

Something I figured I'd throw up here now is my Valkyrie. I painted this about a month ago using the same overbrush/drybrush/detail painting of my other vehicles. All the wing-mounted weapons are magnetized.

Detail of the left side, I wanted all those weird patches on the left side to look like campaign markings.

Detail of the right side, I liked the idea of kill markings on my vehicle.

Lastly, I don't know if I've brought it up, but a friend (Ray aka. Yotakka on B&C)and I are going to BOLScon this summer. Him and I are going to play in the Team Tournament with Guard and Raven Guard Space Marines. I'll start a blog of the whole project, but we're repainting his Marines, and he wanted me to start with this. So without further adieu, I present Kaayvan Shrike!

Alrighty, my friend and I are getting a game in tomorrow after work, so we'll get some game pictures in, as well as a FULL ARMY SHOT!!
As usual, C&C is appreciated, especially constructive criticism (I'm looking at you LunaWolf and Chromedog! )
Thanks,
Granesh

Bonus content! So my friend and I are hanging out at 1:30 in the morning working on lists and models, and I had an amazing revelation! Chimeras have the Amphibious rule (because everyone has a lake terrain piece ) , but Games Workshop actually bothered to make the model...

Really nice paint jobs, I love the cohesive look of the army! Sad to see the barrels of your Hydra so badly warped though. I hope if I ever get FW Hydras they'll be straighter, still hoping for a plastic kit though.

I believe those weird patches are the ladders to get into the cockpit.

Dude you are the most amzing painter ever i love your hydra and chimera. Your barrels are warped but some wire could fix that. or you take a long time making so barrels with green stuff keep going with the good work

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.

@Redemption: Yeah, FW is nice, I painted another Hydra for a friend though, and his were warped worse than mine were. I'll sit down again at some point and straighten them out, I actually thought about just replacing the whole thing with brass rods...might have to utilize that now. I'll throw some pics of my standard guardsmen up soon, those look better together than the tanks do!

@Comisarmilo: Aww sir you flatter me

@Flinty and Redemption: Oh..... Well I think they look better as campaign badges, I always imagined the crew getting in by a ladder or something that they would just roll up everytime.

I've got another Chimera (see amphibious pics) sprayed, I should have it painted tonight or tomorrow. I'll also throw some pictures of my *better* painted guard squads, I'm sure you all will like them!
