I have been into 4 war games and only one of them 40k is still around.

Lets start at the very beginning at my Hight School Days me and my friends got into Shock Force. Great War Game ,but went out of bussiness so no one to play adgainst.

In my Navy days I played Mage Knight fun game but also is no longer around.

In my navy days I played some 40k ,but sadly someone stole my Necron army. So for many years I didnt pick it back up.

Got back into 40k been playing it on and off and the best thing is that I can always use my 40k Minitures!

Got into starwars minis it was a lot of fun ,but I just learned that StarWars Minis will be no more.

The best thing about 40k if you stop playing for a while it will be here when you have more time.

Shock Force-Dead
Mage Knight-Dead
StarWars Minis-Dead

40K-Still alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what wargames have you gotten into that are no longer around?

There's more than enough fluff, armies, tactics and models to keep a lot of people interested for a very long time, and therefore it remains.

best straight up sci fi minis game around. and they were one of the first to come out, so more of a long time having been around, so more people know them.

Warzone. Very Cyberpunk. It was all about corp v corp in the future wars thing.

Kryomek: Humans v Gigeresque aliens that harvest fallen humans to reuse in their own warmachines.

Those were the two other biggies I got into.

Both were the same sizes/scales as 40k. They are still avaialble miniatures, too and in some cases, much cheaper and more characterful counts-as for 40k.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Car Wars
OGRE/GEV

Early on, I decided to focus my gaming on MtG and 40k.

While I missed out on few games, I also avoided sinking money into VOID, VOR, Warzone, Confrontation, AT-43 and most of the other now-dead stuff.

I've since decide that pure skirmish games (WM/H, Malifaux, Infinity) are OK, precisely because they stay small.

Void the Maelstrom, CAV, and some other game I can't recall. Does 2nd edition 40K count?

This was a triumph! I'm making a note here, huge success. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Apeture Science, we do what we must because we can. For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead

I like the warhammer universe because humanity has been pushed to the brink and is just trying to survive against all the horrors in space around them. Also, the Chaos Space Marines are really beleiveable villains, in the fact that they aren't just evil, and that they think they are the ones fighting for humanity. Idk, I have always been a villain lover.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

I'm sad that star wars miniatures isn't doing too well.

But 40k still kicks ass, so it's okay

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.
