Hey guyz,
Ok, so i have a game coming up some time soon, and well, it scares me xD
Basiclly, my orks are Speed Freaks, and his Bugs, have lots'o'stelers and MC.... So i was wondering if some of you guyz (im looking at you mechinized ork players here!) could give me some tips on how to go up against this kind of bug army.... This will also be my first time going up against Bugs..
So ya, tips would be nice, and some How-to's also....

THanks,
Cj

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

1. Burnas. They are power weapons against the MCs, and they will simply end any number of genestealers.
2. Burnas in a battlewagon. You will roflwtfpwn through your game.
3. Lootas. I don't know your point level, but two units of 5 is a start, and if you have the points, kick one up to 15. Against those MCs, you hit on 5+, wound on 3+.
4. Ghazghkull Thraka. He's happy to go toe-to-toe with any MC, including swarm lords, tyrants with bone swords....he doesn't care.
5. If you don't have a unit of burnas in a battlewagon in your list yet, get it there.
6. Nobs. Specifically, diversified nobs. Powerklaws, a kombi-skorcha or two, or some kombi-rokkits depending on what they're hunting. I tend to go with kombi-rokkits in my lists because they serve anti-vehicle functions too.

The moral of the story is this: Orks are a good assault army. Tyranids are generally better at the assault. gants have better initiative, genestealers have better initiative, so even if you get the charge off and furious charge....you're still not going first.

I play mechanized orks. I find that when I play against tyranids, I end up hanging back and shooting. Tyranids are incredibly weak against vehicles, so I'll prioritize zoanthropes (if there are any), tyrant guard (if there are any) and short of that....I'll snipe at his MCs with rokkits and Lootas until he closes in, maneuver around as best as I can, and then burninate mobs of troops.

thank you dash! i was hopping that you would drop in
And, yes, i do have burnas in a battlewagon, but i need to buy them xD

And what would you suggest for boyz? like the number of trukks, and all that jazz....

Right now, i have 3 trukks, and one Battle wagon, 1 buggy (which is in disrepair) and thats it for veichals, then i have enough boyz and then some for all the trukks... you can see my blog for a better look at what i have (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/280220.page)

So the buy list seems to be....
1.BUrnas
2.Ghaz.

that it?

Personally, I find the main issue with Trukk Boyz is they're killy for their cost but fragile to units that kill by drowning you in wounds (meaning many Tyranid units!). Bikers/Nob Bikers/Koptas are more durable, but less point-efficient at killing stuff than regular Boyz. So against the Gaunt or Gantswarms, multicharging becomes critical, with your tougher units tanking for your Boyz. Inversely, the regular Ork Boyz can "take one for the team" as they attempt to survive being pasted by Tyranid Warriors.

Normally, I don't like Burnaboyz. Mainly because they compete with Lootas. If I were to include Lootas, their main targets would be Hive Guard and enemy Harpies; beware Harpies for they're pretty accurate, and the main weakness of the Venom Cannon (reduced damage) doesn't apply when shooting your vehicles!

Get more Warbuggies. Yes they're fragile in squads, but they're dirt-cheap, and take up a lot of space on the board, and are useful for helping you deny enemy movement; offensive roadblocking so to speak. As a rule, I give them twin-linked Rokkit Launchas (as vehicle-busting is generally very important). Target Tervigons, Trygons, Warriors, etc.

What style of army is this Nid player going for? Schizophrenic battleforce, or does he have a more coherent armystyle in mind?
