I have not seen the new Blood Angels codex yet, but I just want to know: fluffwise, how do they explain deepstriking landraiders, or other such land based vehicles? If it was with little retro-thrusters wouldn't they need to be modeled upon the tank for wysiwyg? Please explain.

Thunderhawk transporter.

As there is a standard Thunderhawk to carry marines and dreads from orbit, there is also the transport version, able to carry
a Land Raider or 2 rhino-chassis based tanks.
These vehicles existed in Epic 40k / armageddon and also got rules in Apoc.

So just to check, a thunderhawk swoops by and quick sets them down?

So do the BA have more thunderhawks than other chapters, or should other marine chapters be allowed to do this?

omg, Blood Angles is one of the only Codexes I don't own and its sounding stupider all the time. Deep Striking Land Raiders!? Then why doesn't every chapter have that? Every Chapter has Thunderhawks.

BA seem to take more risk than others and nearly drop their LR instead of setting them gently to the ground.

Why should they have more T-hawks?
Usually any battlebarge would have enough T-hawks to carry a complete company into battle. The transport version is
thougth to be rare, but maybe its just some refitting neccessary as T-hawks are STC vehicles and the STC was meant for
maximum flexibility. Still, BA could have a lot of T-hawks, as they are also neccessary to deepstrike jumppack-equipped marines.

And yes, IMO every chapter should be allowed to use their T-hawks.

Well anyone can buy a Thunderhawk from Forge World but BA can deep strike without representing the Thunderhawk I take it?

Would start BA if this would be the official model.
....wait.... already did.

Available methods of transport:

- teleporter => Terminators
- droppods => infantry and dreads

- Stormbird ( pre heresy. ) bigger than the T-hawk
- Thunderhawk ( was new at pre heresy, now standart vehicle ) carries squads, dreads or vehicles .
May DS jumppackers or landspeeders.
- StormRaven ( new BA gunship, may carry a squad and a dread )
- StormEagle ( seen in lists of content in upcoming Imperial armor books )
- space marine landing craft ( epic armageddon ) may carry several vehicles and squads

Any chapter CAN deep strike Land Raiders.

Only Blood Angels are daft enough to actually DO it.

LR's may be tough, but that landing's gotta be rough on the squishy crew! Just remember, it's not the fall that kills you... It's the sudden stop at the end.

The truth of the matter is... Piss poor codex writing.

Mr. Ward didn't want to give up anything more than he needed to to make a "divergent" chapter that really wasn't divergent at all.

According to the new BA codex, the BAs now have.

The most jump troops
The most Landraiders (you can take 15 in a standard force org.)
The most Dreads
The only chapter with Stormravens (until GKs get them)
The only guys smart enough to entomb Libbies in dreads.
The most thunderhawks (you can DS all 15 LR if you want)
The only technology in the imperium to make the lumbering rhino as fast as an ork trukk with NO drawbacks.

Screw you Matt Ward. Screw you.
