Mr. Ward didn't want to give up anything more than he needed to to make a "divergent" chapter that really wasn't divergent at all.

According to the new BA codex, the BAs now have.

The most jump troops
The most Landraiders (you can take 15 in a standard force org.)
The most Dreads
The only chapter with Stormravens (until GKs get them)
The only guys smart enough to entomb Libbies in dreads.
The most thunderhawks (you can DS all 15 LR if you want)
The only technology in the imperium to make the lumbering rhino as fast as an ork trukk with NO drawbacks.

Screw you Matt Ward. Screw you.

Alright, so what did they give up?

Blood Angels give up:

Master of the Forge
Combat Tactics
Chapter Tactics
Techmarines with Independent Character
Ironclad Dreadnoughts (esp. Seismic Hammers)
Venerable Dreadnoughts
Cheap Rhino-based vehicles
Thunderfire Cannons
Increased Transport Capacity in Drop Pods and Land Raiders
Cheap Thunder Hammers and Lightening Shields

They would if they could. GW was most likely planning to do it, then decided that it would cost too much money to add nipples to tactical marine armor.

I myself can't stand the nipples on 95% of the models.
The whole army doesn't have nipple armor, people have to stop whining that the sanguinary guard and some HQs have it. Because those are the ONLY things that have it unless you yourself want to model it on your dreadnaughts somehow and the rest of your troops/elites/fa/hs.

What is the obsession that the dakka community has with being "freaked out" by nipple armour?

Is this some byproduct of the forum communities collective emotional age being 10 years old, or simply latent homophobia?

Christ, get over it...

I'm not really freaked out by them, I just don't care for the look. It's the same way as having so many little wolf skulls on my SWs. I just think it's a bit overdone, that's all.

Besides, it gives me a valid reason to return the mocking I catch for playing Elves in Spandex and Spehss Puppehs.

Lots of the more "named" positions in the HQ and elite spots get renamed and slightly reworked with each codex. SW and BTs don't have them either.

Yet gained access to Feel no Pain and Furious Charge and still keep combat squad ability.

Yet gain, Furioso and Libby dreads. Heaven forbid they loose AV13.

Nurglitch wrote:Cheap Rhino-based vehicles

So, the 35 point discount from assault marines kinda equals out the "cheap" part.

Nurglitch wrote:Thunderfire Cannons

I'll give you that, however, I've never actually seen one fielded ever.

Nurglitch wrote:Increased Transport Capacity in Drop Pods and Land Raiders

The increase in transport capacity was a huge mistake in the SM codex. Had the BA kept the increased capacity, SW players would have marched on GW with torches and pitchforks.

Nurglitch wrote:Cheap Thunder Hammers and Lightening Shields

Five points per. Not that big of a deal.

Nurglitch wrote:Dignity

You sir, win one internet.

My list was based more on the changes in army structure and what "fluffwise" the BA can and cannot field. Their chapter has suddenly had a huge influx of technology and transports. Its all a little ridiculous when you look at the whole picture of how the chapter is now presented vs all the other chapters.

Gameplay wise, 2000 points is still 2000 points. Its not even possible to field 8 Landraiders, let alone 15.

you guys missed some stuff.
Blood Angels don't get/ they lost the ability to take:
searchlights for free
legion of the damned
a company champion for 15 pts. They now cost 20 pts(you guys might not think that's a big deal, but that's 5 pts that could be spent on searchlights or a melta bomb)
a more varied style of play
Land speeder storm
chapter master
chaplain as an HQ
hellfire rounds for HQ
Chapter master
Orbital bombardment
more backround
less info on sm succesor chapters
a galactic map showing chapter homeworlds
more pics of models in successor chapters
Note:Their chief librarian doesn't know every psychic abilty the chapter has at their disposal.

Woops! Sorry! some stuff might be irrelevant but if you're expected to shell out thirty bucks for a book, you should get more info on backround and things like that. Also, when I said chapter master, I was talking about a generic chapter master as listed on pg. 52 of the Sm codex( the one that costs 125 pts.) And what if you don't want to take Tycho and you're up against a tyranid army? Well, no hellfire rounds for you.

What does homophobia have to do with it? People don't like the nipple armor because it looks amazingly stupid.

It's armor. With nipples. Nobody has a problem with the many models that have nipples because they're barechested.

All I've got to add to the DS Land Raider discussion is that the Ultramarines apparently have 31 Thunderhawks, which would be split across their entire chapter. That Blood Angels can field 15 in a single battle seems a little odd, although not out of the realm of possibility I guess...

If you read all the stories in the codex you will see that the BA gave the imperium a Titan for free instead of keeping it for themselves. Otherwise when they find new technology they hoarde it and keep all the secrets to themselves. Baal is protected by dreadnoughts and apparently the BA have more LR than any othr chapter. They refuse to give over the specs on the Baal pred and wont tell anybody how to make fast engines. All of the fluff aside they can take LR as transports because they have that many extra at their dispossal and they are not afraid to deepstrike them because once again there are plenty more in the garage back home.

In general bass players are smarter
