Ok so i am a huge salamanders fan, i played them back when they where still in the armagedon codex. I just recently am gettin back around to where im collecting them agian, in my list im runnin 30 sterngaurd, with all combi-meltas. my problem is they are $11.50 a model, and i honestly cant afford 30 of them, and i was told about chapter house studios. if i got the shoulder pads and converted reg. tac. marines into sterngaurd, would it still be fluffy or not. cause its not really how theyre shoulder pads are, and the "fluffy" part is very important to me. So please give me your opinions. Thanks

P.S. if you havent seen them here is the link. http://chapterhousestudios.com/webshop/component/virtuemart/?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=2&category_id=7

Nobody would mind in the slightest. Sternguard are just blinged out Marines, visually. A bunch of my Sternguard are just wearing cooler armor bits, and since they're Crimson Fists, both of their hands will be painted red. As long as they're visually distinct from tactical Marines, there won't be a problem.

=1 to BroSRM. Sterngaurd are just more ornate. Stick some bling on them.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.

I saw a salamanders army that used those bits, looked great. I highly recommend doing it. Salamanders are supposed to all be master-craftsmen, if I recall the fluff correctly, so it would make perfect sense for them to have fancy looking armor.

I would suggest scrounging a few bits off Dark Elf players and Lizardmen players. A few dark elf corsair cloaks would look thematic and awesome, as well as any other "scaled" bits.

Like mentioned, as long as they are different at a glance from regular marines it's all good, and I think much better than just buying stock figures.

so long as you keep to the salamander visual theme (i.e. lizardy reptilian scaly etc) then you're fluffy, you don't have to use the same shapes and colours that GW use.

Your sternguard should look an obviously different unit from the regular salamanders but still obviously part of the same army. As an elite unit, it makes sense that they'd have fancier/posher armour in some way.

I dont like them with the jet black skin, I much preferred the normal dark skin tone they had on one of the display models. I dont know, it was nice seeing that the galaxy wasn't just full with a bunch of white people. Now the Salamanders just look generic "badass half-deamon human fighting for good"
