For the first time in several years I had the opportunity to play. I ran the tourney Saturday for my local store but got to play in the Sunday another city's tourney. I accidentally map quested the sister store and had to scamble across town. I made it with 2 minutes to spare.
Not going to bore you with my BA list.
Round one vs. Demons. Almost no terrain on the table. Not a big deal vs. demons though. I win the toss and make him go 1st. I'm castled sitting on or close to 3 of the 5 objs. Some ballsy deepstriking later he breath of chaoses 2 scout squads off the table and clip my LRC and Baal pred. Glancing 6's both of them. I forget to shoot w/ my furiouso turn one. Mephiston suffers one wound against an great unclean one, kills it eventually along with 2 more demon princes. He does wound himself 3 times from perils of the warp and dies to a failed dangerous terrain test. I forget to use Corbulo's re-roll. Manage a tie w/ a few extra battle points. I kill 2100 vps of his he gets 800 of mine.

Round 2 vs, Vanilla marines. Urban terrain in the middle. I go 2nd and reserve everything. I then begin to kill him piecemeal. He finds out what a flying Libby dread can do. My bloodtalon dread also eats him up. Deepstrikling LRC kills off a speeder squad. He resigns top of turn 3. He confesses that he isn't having any fun and says he will get rude if he stays. I totally understand it . Massacre with full points for me.

Beginning of round 2 a hailstorm hits. A friend has to withdraw to try to protect his new car. He was sitting 2nd at the time. He already has a golden ticket from Saturday and was really just trying to win a land raider I think. The ringer army was a mech Eldar (ME) list. He too already has a slot for the semi's but his buddy came in 4th Saturday. If he wins another slot he'll give one to his buddy.

With my 2nd opponent withdrawing the ringer is back in but doesn't play round 2. I turn in the results sheet with the guy packs up his models. I have a long break and wait for game 3. It's not until I'm moving my models to the table I realize........

MY LIBBY DREAD IS GONE!!! I kit bashed an Ironclad and Ven Dread to make that guy. What is that? About $100? Gone! I hope that my last opponent accidentally grabbed it up, but how do you acidentally grab a dread? I call the guy and get an answering machine. If he didn't take it someone else did and I'll never see him.

So round 3 back on the no terrain board I played in game one. Playing for the top honors. My opponent, the ME list that only played the 1st game. Great guy. I am so upset about the dread though I cannot concentrate and give the guy a good game. The TO lends a a dread model and the ME player waives the WYSIWYG. I win the roll to go fist and do. What? I never do that. He reserves everything. Turn one I move around and pop smoke. What? His turn one nothing comes in. All my smoke was wasted. Turn 2 only his heavies come in and it goes downhill. I Kill one Waveserpent, Yriel, a seer council, 5 fire dragons and a squad of Storm Guardians. Yeah, Stormers, kudos to him for using them! He kills every vehicle, well, he kills 75% of my army. Massacre for him and I get knocked to 5th place.

It's not until I get home that I start to reflect. I wonder now why the ringer with one game played me on the top table. Again, he was a fantastic guy, a savvy player and he had a list that was dynamite. It's a rough loss and a crappy end of the day. I went from competing for a ticket and $60 of swag to losing $100. And there's a guy with 2 tickets. Rough. I know it sounds like I'm whining and I am. The ME player though deserves the win. A great guy and a better player than me to be sure. I guess the only thing I can say is, "whine, whine, bitch, whine waah." I miss my LIBBY DREAD

you should definetaly call the police and ask the store owner to view the security cameras and generally ask around. Someone must have seen someone picking it up and it could be and accident so just keep trying dude.

Sorry about your turn out and your loss Libby dread.

Ringers usually can't win the tournament, especially if he only played 2 games. On the other hand, if he actually won the tournament with only those two games, maybe he deserved it

The two games didn't give him enough to win overall. If they averaged the 2 games he played and and then counted it as a third game he does. Again, great guy, fantastic store. Weird circumstances and I just needed to vent.

Awful story. :( Sorry to hear that.

Thinking about the words to use, I would call the guy you played second round and say, "Hey man! This is XXXX who you played round 2 on Saturday. You accidentally grabbed my dreadnought - when can you meet me at the store to return it?"

Its forward and bold, but at the same time so that if he did take it he'll think he's caught but has room to back out, if he says, "Huh? I didn't grab it" you have room to backpedal without your first statement sounding like an accusation of thievery, or to decide what to do from there.

Dude finally called. Long story short I'm getting the model back! Is it wrong to pitch a tent about getting a model returned?

The guy has some mental issuse he's working to overcome. My dread was the only unpainted model in my army, so when he packed up he grabbed all of the unpainted models. I am relieved to be getting it back but am still out of the semis. Still I feel a lot better.

I accidentally did something kind of similar a few months ago. A guy I was playing with had lost his codex. We searched the store for an hour looking for it. Then, on a whim, I checked my backpack, and sure enough there it was. I guess I was looking at it, then when I wasn't paying attention I put it in my backpack thinking it was my codex. The worst part is, I play Orks and he played Beakies. I guess I didn't really look at it. Felt like a heel cuz we had been searching frantically FOREVER!!!!!!

Last time I played, I accidentally took my opponent's mini-rulebook. We had the same AoBR rulebook. I returned it to him at the 'Ard Boyz when he asked though as I wasn't sure whose it belonged to (there were quite a few people practicing for the AB that day). At least your opponent called back and admitted that he took it.
