El' Quixo (my shas'el commander) recently lost his head. Those who have faced him will be unsurprised by this (his head was pinned but never properly glued to his torso).

However for me this was a watershed event as he has commanded the Tau for around 100 battles since last february - when i got back into 40k after a hiatus of roughly 15 yrs.

When your miniatures lose bits of their anatomy of course you expect them to re-appear, and when they don't its upsetting (especially your commanders head.. portents cant be good).

I dealt with this event by making a new helm for el quixo. its made of a normal crisis head plus some stealth suit bits. I'm really happy now that he has a head again.. its probably an improvement on the original.

However I cant help thinking about his original head. Where is it? When did it fall out of my case? Does someone have it in their possession and wonder what it is?

Either way El Quixo after 100+ battles has probably earned his new headgear and I've decided I can now start using him as a shas'o. Not often though.

just thought id share this (its been a long day)

I had a similar tragedy happen. I used Bjorn the Fell-handed's banner pole (which I could never straighten out anyway) to make a Rune staff for my Rune Priest. I dropped him of the table one day and I couldn't find the top half of his staff. Fortunately, I found it about a couple weeks later, but it was in the bathroom, which leads me to believe that my cats were enjoying it.

Playing Space Marine demo while GF was scrapbooking:
Me: I can turn it down, if the screams of dying orks are annoying you.
Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.

My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1

Heh, I had a similar problem with my crisis suits. Some of the feet went missing from some of my (then) unassembled crisis suits. I couldn't find them so I took some of the (2nd ed?) Orks I had, (bought them off some guy who used to play) cut them in half and dug out part of the lower torso and legs. Then I stuck the Crisis suit's legs into the Ork's lower torsos as shoes. I now call them my Ork Stompas.
I am willing to mutilate my models for a laugh.
