Death-Dealing Dark Angels Devastator

Greeting to what is now my blog.

I cannot guarantee regular updates, or use of proper english throughout this ( I usually speak french ). Disclaimer being said:

This blog is my, and a buddy of mine's, attempt at playing the Siege of Vraks campaign from imperial armor 5 to7. This is a 2-3year project ( A year a book seems like a reasonable amount of time... but we enthusiast gamers tend to get carried away ).

You can expect to see both our progress on our respective forces: I will play the Renegades and Alpha Legion for the first book. My buddy Francis will field the Death Korps. Special help from another friend, Eric, will play the Dark Angel's part in missions 5 and 6.

Also, progress on the scenery(?) Terrain and boards we will be playing on. This is prtty much it to get started, I will update to what forces each side need to play the 1st mission. Here are some test photos using dakka gallery since I'm not
quite familiar with it yet.

First model I bought along with IA:5, They are painted in a different scheme ( more complex? ) than the basic foot renegades.

Got this model from a friend quitting the game. He was a test model for the Tanks painting scheme.

This one I picked up at a games day. Just got around to painting it for a competition at my LGS

Here's the whole bunch of infantry, also done as a test for the rest of the force

Demolisher, picked up the store's demo when the new kit came out. Still a lot WIP, but you get the idea.

Stick around for more updates, give feedback, choose your side, give harsh criticism, everyone's welcome

Thanks a lot!

Great stuff - sooo sub'd! I like how relatively muted your traitor guard are, not too chaosy, very much as I envisage them.

Hi everyone!

I'm Francis, the opponent of my good friend Skizo (but I doubt since he engage me in a project where I must sell many part of my own body to get resin and other geek stuff of FW or GW). He will post the EPIC story of our battle and progress, but I will comment with propaganda or other technique of brain washing! English is not my first language and I'm such a... dumb? in the Shakespeare world.

Oh and one last thing: I'm a new subscriber, but a read the forum since many month. So please don't be to hard with me... or my death korps wil be send in your position in order cleanse and purify!

You know what? Resin is expensive!

I like the painting scheme for the infantry a lot.

I'm not sure it fits for the tanks however, but it still looks good.

Thanks a lot for the support you guys! I'm glad there's not already a hateclub of the renegades cheering the Korps

Got some close-ups of a few things. My force commander ( taking name suggestions as of right now ) is 99% finished, might work a little on the guardsmen at his feet.

Little freehand on the banner, I will tidy it up later. I really like painting the little alpha legion logo, I'll add more through the force.

And here is a close up of the general infantry. Models look brighter because of the lightning. A batch of 25 took me around 3.5 hours, so I guess I'll stick to that technique.

And, to show you I'm not sleeping around... Here's all the infantry I need for the 1st Scenario, minus heavy weapon teams.

The top 5 I tried a colour prime, but didn't like the result.. they will be re-primed along with the infantry tomorrow night.

I'll post the complete listing of my first frce this week, along with a picture of what it looks like when they're all in formations... I'm waiting on a FW order to add like 60 infantry ( or 45 and heavy weapon teams ) and a shipping of glue to basecoat the gaming board.

Hail Xaphan, death the the false emperor, we have cookies, all that stuff. Thanks a lot for reading despite poor english.

YEah you're right, Where's my fanclub? (I supposed it's beacause the only Korps we can see for now is a half-death Krieg at the feet of powerfisted TRAITOR...).

Nice job indeed on your paint. Mine took me the same time... but for one dude! Oh god, the first scenario ask me to paint 120 guardsmen!

Yes, we will!

Small update from the renegades. Here's pretty much all I need for the first scenario:

Traitor Command Squad ( Done, as you can ee in the pics )

3 Heavy Bolter ( Waiting for more FW torsos )

3 Mortars ( Not primed, but asembled)

Platoon Command Squad ( Also done among the test bunch )

INfantry squad w/ Melta
Infantry Squad w/ Plasma Gun ( These 2 were the test group )
Infantry squad with flamer ( pIP )
Infantry Squad with plasma ( pip)
Infantry Squad with grenade luncher ( pip)

Minefield ( Not muchwork on them, but I got a slight idea of what I'm gonna do )

Gun Emplacement with Lascanon ( I think I'll take the Lascanon from the plantestrike kit )

Armored Fists squad with a flamer ( Squad in is progress, chimera is not )

8 Disciples of Xaphan ( Vets of some sort ) with Heavy Stubber and PLasma Gun ( pip )

1 ENforcer ( primed but not much else done )

As you can see, still a lot more fun to come. Hope to get pictures by monday, my weekend is pretty packed ( eventful? ) right now.

Thanks a lot!

HE'S ALIVE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

Update long overdue! I have received my FW order, so that's 60 more Renegades bodies. Next Order wil be the really cool Ogryns, but I don't know when that'll be. Anyway, here's some progress:

As metionned before, here's my force for the Mission 1, where renegades destroy and humiliate the 1st of Krieg's advance through no man lands ( if all goes as planned ).

From left to right: Heavy Bolter team ( 4 HW dudes missing ) and Mortar Team, Infantry platoon, Armored Fist Squad ( without a chimera ) Enforcer, Company Command Squad and on the far right, Disciples of Xaphan ( veteran/cultists kinda troopers )

Closeup af a Mortar Weapon Team

Really enjoy this dude, probably next to get painted.

This is by far my favorite guardsmen of the whole bunch. Guardsmen not the sharpest tool in the shed, reporting for duty:

Here's the first part on how I paint my troopers step by step.

Step 1: Basecoat. I use Tamiya Spray Paint over a white ndercoat, but a airbrush or colored primer could do the trick also. This step is the real time saer of the lot. Always spray your baseboat on, it's a blessing.

Step 2: Paint basecoat. I use boltgun metal, chaos black, camo green, Scorched brown and mechrite red.

Step 3, 4 and 5 will follow soon enough.

And, because I like suspense. Here's a sneak pek of the next update: The mystery box
