Hey there guys
I have searched the forums for 3 battle wagon lists for people with experience in getting low comp score for it, nothing came up, so my question is; If i took 3 battle wagon (no killkannons cause i know 3 of them would be 0 comp strati away, like 3x vindicators) and put a Big Mek with KFF in the middle one with some tankbustas, and the other two lootas or burnas. would this be considered a dirty 0 comp score list on 1750pts torni?
I want to start testing the list, and IMO this could go well, but also get all eggs in 1 basket destructiod pretty fast, making it not so cheese.
In anycase i know many of the cheese tactics out there, like chaos Lash with Obliterators and the such and avoid them at all costs, but that never stops me from taking a pretty strong army.
I have 2 lists, 1 with 3 battle wagons, 1 with 2. if they gave me low comp score for 2 battlewagons no killkannon i would be pissed as it's not to cheese.
BTW Flashgits, does anyone use these? put kaptian budrukk in and a 5 man decent squd 350pts!!!
Cheers for C&C

http://www.lordsofterra.com/scoring.htm
Scoring System
Both High Lords of Terra and the Lords of Terra (Open) will use the same scoring system.
The maximum marks available are 200, broken down as follows:
Battle: 5 games each worth a maximum of 20 points. Total out of 100 points. Each game will have both primary and secondary objectives.
Sportsmanship: 5 opponents each mark you for sportsmanship. Scaled to be a total out of 20 points.
Army Composition: Panel marked composition. Scaled to be a total out of 40 points.
Painting: Two painting judges mark your army separately out of 20. If the scores differ by more than 2 points a TO will review the scores. The painting scores are added to give a total out of 40 points.
Prizes / Awards
We recognise the following achievements.
Overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Painting 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Best Sport, Best Army, Best General
Best Junior (Lords of Terra Open only)
Players Choice (High Lords and Open treated as a single field for this)
True guess i will have ask the TO

I don't know about tournaments, but I run 1,500 Ork lists with three battlrwagons all the time and nobody's complained. Of course, they're minimal, just a couple of big shootas, armor plates and grot riggers. Killkannons are a waste, because the point of battlewagons is to get the Orks into assault range quick and protect them. 3X battlewagons with 20 boyz each, 2 units of nobs with dedicated transport battlewagons works pretty well for me. (The Nobz wagons have deff rollas for extra aggression, but pretty much are the same otherwise.)

Yes i know, my house mate was telling me ile get a comp low comp score for it, i list of 3 actually contains,
2 of them with 5x-10x burnas, and in the middle battlwagon a Mek with KFF, now the KFF could be said to be cheese, enacting that 4+ invul and front 14 AR with deff rolas, but marines have leadership 9-8 so should always pass. (if you can imagen 3 battlewagons side by side with trukks behind them hiding, you get the picture)
but at time i just think my house mate is telling me it's dirty cause he would rather face a green swarm with his BA than some armored targets with front armor 14 and a deff rolla.
i mean i keep telling him that even taking 2 bhaal pred's with twin assaults, and 2 furiosos in DP with blood talons along with all assault marines and melta guns will get him a low comp score cause BA is relatively OP....
maybe im wrong, but out of 6 games with my orks on 1750, i took 1 battlewagon once, it was a draw, i have won 1 other game against him and draw 1 more the rest were loses.
i just think he know ile enter the same tornis as him and would rather convince me to take a weak list, no more i say! (although realistically that's bad for him, you think he would want to face strong army's and defeat them?)
Anyways thanks for the koments, much apprecieted ile have to try the lists out!

OP:
I play in major events across the country with my battlewagon Orks. I do tremendously well with them; on a scale of 0-20 for Comp, I tend to range from 7-12.
IE, middle of the pack.
If you take Flashgitz or killa-kannons, expect your score to go up because they are both crap units/upgrades that take your list from efficient, ruthless killing into the realm of overcosted and undereffective.
In short; play how you like. Run your list by the TO of the event you're planning on attending and see what he says. Also, ignore your roommate, he appears to know nothing at all about tournament scoring.

So Basicly 3 battlewagons, 1 dedi for nobz, opens up a HS slot and get flash gits and pop em in the BW, now they are protected and carry assault weapons, with upgrades, 2 shots each S6 d6 AP -1 with the other upgrade, although its a um and are to take it or not? i mean 5 flash gitz are pts expensive anyways, i would not take them unless in battewagon, but there good like burnas cause they can shoot in the BW....
ARRRGGG the choices. this is Lords of Terra Open section for Australia, im pretty sure there will be some cheese lists around so i can handle a 14-24 score out of 40
in 1750 can still fit 60 boyz 5 nobz flash gits and some tankbustas around the joined, & if tank bustas and Fgitz are hiding in wagons they should prove more effective than normal (esp with Mig mek with KFF protecting them if the wagons stick together)
Those Dice gods can play horible tricks tho

Ah, that changes things a bit. From what I've heard from people playing in NZ and Australia, their idea of comp vs. US idea of comp are vastly different things. Get opinions from people that have gone to that tournament, would be my advice.

Seriously though, if your army has Flashgits and killa-kannons, I'd give you max comp score and presume you have no chance at winning. =p
I love Battlewagons, and doubly so love my Orks. Here's a link to my 'Ard Boyz preliminary results that just finished; I took Orks. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/295067.page
Hopefully the list, its synergy, and what I do with it helps you decide how to build your own list. For lower point lists, there's some very useful threads in the Army list section you should read where critiques are given on various units, sizes, etc in different Ork lists.

Context, folks.
Reading comprehension = win.
Mikhaila appears to have been the only person to pay attention that Vreith is posting from Australia, where Comp is widely accepted and significantly more of a factor than it presently is in the US.
Vreith, with that in mind, I’d recommend that you change your post’s title to mention Australia, Lords of Terra, so people know to respond if they are familiar with that event & its rules, or at least Comp in general in Australia.

Battlewagons will either be easy or hard for your opponent to deal with depending on how their force is designed to deal with AV14 (since it is a tournament they should be expecting someone to bring it).
From the Lords of Terra System:
Opponent Judged Comp - high and low thrown out.
- You can with stand 1 opponent tanking your score. In my experience since Comp is widely used in Canada still, that will usually happen if you stomp on a weak player/list round 1. After you are on the winning side you are more likely to play players who have a harder list and less rigid view of what poor comp is. This system insulates you a little from a disgruntled player tanking your score.
Organizer Judged Comp - They tell you straight up, they are marking the list. As has been suggested before, contact the organizers and ask them what criteria they are basing their judgments on.
In my particular area, you'd not be penalized by vast majority of players for taking battle wagons because it just takes 1 or 2 lucky shots early to derail your whole list.
Later,
WR

if you're truly worried about comp, i'd say go with the two battlewagons. three of them are genuinely difficult for most non-tweaked lists (read: low melta/lance/lascannon count) to take care of so you may suffer a bit in the comp. also, you might run into people that think you can only take them as heavy support and that you're maxed out on them (yes, i know you're not even close as you can take them with nobz squads but some people may not know that). taking two is both manageable and not "maxed out" for the uninformed. dashofpepper plays alot and he typically gets run of the mill comp scores with that type of army (as he stated above).

I guess I don't really understand other countries stance on comp but if your gonna ding someones list because you thought they weren't going to take is more on their fault and not yours. Its like saying that as a DE player I'am not gonna take DL cause it might ding my comp rating.

Hmm valid point, i already had a 2 battlewagon list pumped out. without 3 battlewagons i can take a deff dred with extra CCArm and a KMB ontop(and he will be a troop choice via bigmek so he can KMB things from afar and anyone wanting to asswault him, or he assault it, will most likely die!), and can convert a unit that will be footsloging to ard boys so AP 4 weapons along the slog don't mow em down.
I think that's more versatile, or put that 'ard boyz unit in one of the battlewagons so they don't die on the backlash of attacks back or after consolidating midst the enemy get blown to bitz
And they can be derailed yes, ergo putting a Big Mek with a KFF to give it a 4+ CS at all times make sure that deff rolla gets a bita action.
I noticed a mod has changed the name thread name, thnx

From what I've seen of other people talking about Lords of Terra comp rules, I'd assume 3 BWs would be an instant 0-5 just like 3 of anything in even a quasi competitive army.
If you want a chance at Comp, I'd say that at the very least they'd all have to be equipped distinctly differently, and probably 0-1 Deffrollas.
It's utter nonsense when a 'GW' 'tournament' tells you you can't use GW models that you paid for, but such is life in our elitist hobby.

I was amused when i got a GW Newsletter the other month saying there were going to be GW run tourneys, "throne of Skulls" i believe, this seemed to be a world wide newsletter. my first thought to this was, 'won't happen in aust...' and many other thought the same thing, i would LOVE to see GW surprise everyone and actually do something in the country which buys so much of it's stuff!
in any case my whingeing is over for now
