May 31st is Memorial Day in the United States!

Even if you do not celebrate this day (as it is a specific holiday in the United States to honor those who died in military service for our country), what will you be doing that day?

I will be working that day, but will make sure to at least thank one of our service men or women who proudly served for my country.

Twiddling my thumbs as I don't know anybody in the military that wasn't trying to exploit the system for a temporary free ride.

The greater good needs some moo.

By luck it is the May Day bank holiday in the UK.

(Traditionally never held on the 1st May.)

So I will be vegging out in some manner, possibly involving 40K models, or a picnic in the countryside if the weather is nice. (Traditionally, the weather is awful on bank holidays.)

At any rate, beer will be consumed.

Taking some SOB models out for a date and consuming enough alochol to make each of them attractive in turn?

I should be so lucky.

All the 40K models available to me at the moment are some beaky SMs, some Tau Piranhas (unassembled) and a bunch of Tyranids.

Perhaps I should revisit my Hive Fleet "Tetsudou Musume" project.

Basically an idea to build a Tyranid army using Japanese character goods figurines.

Hi KK

The 31st is the Late Spring Bank Holiday or Whitsuntide. It is different from the Mayday Bank Holiday.

Why is the 31st Memorial Day please?
Is there some specific event commemorated or is it just a tie in with Whitsun?

Army in a weekend! http://40kbasement.com/main/blog1.php/2010/04/26/episode-006-army-in-a-weekend-explicit-c

I'm cheating, and will have most of my stuff built and primed. I can't take a whole weekend to work on an army, but I'll find time on a couple nights to get them painted to tabletop standard. I have about 1500 of Tau to finish - 8 crisis suits, 6 stealth suits, 6 piranhas, 2 devilfish, 8 pathfinders and a shetload of kroot. It'll give me about 3,000 points of Tau painted up, but more importantly - round out the army and have more of what I want to field.

What? Is it a Bank-Holiday today?

Well, in any case my thoughts go out to the American families that are, as we speak, grieving for their fallen heroes.

I'd imagine, being May 31st, I'll be absolutelyt out my tree, with at least three instances of vomiting.

Thus, despite you celebration of 'Ungratefel Illigetimate Child' Day, I shall be celebrating the beginning of my 3rd Decade on this pitiful execuse of planet....
