I really want to have one, but I don't have the funds for Forgeworld right now.

Any tips on making one? (i.e. materials, etc)

I would think all you have to do is snip the majority of the earthshaker off and find a shorter barrel to attach?

Problem with that is the Medusa barrel is wider than the Basilisk.

You can always use Markers as Barrels, you have all sizes.

You can also get plasticard tubing either at a hobby store that sells plasticard or the internet. I have a nice piece of 1/4" plasticard tubing that would work great for a medusa cannon.

Otherwise, yeah, just take a basilisk and chop down the earthshaker. Or, if you're competant enough at converting, buy a chimera and make the gun platform yourself for half the price.

The medusa should be a pretty easy conversion. A guy I know had some he was selling (they were on the swap shop for a while) and I was willing to pay less than a basilisk kit for them but not more. Its a pretty easy conversion to make and look good from a basilisk kit. Here are some comparison pictures just to show you how easy it could be.

Just cut down the guard to a shorter size.

The barrel is supported by the same bits the Earthshaker is.

Even the spacing is the same. So really all you have to do is make a barrel if you even care that much. Like drunkorc says, just use markers or something, it shouldn't be too hard to do and by far one of the easiest to convert. Only thing that is different is the barrel of the gun and the guard, pretty simple if you ask me.

I did some quick conversions to make chimeras multi use griffons/medusas. these were super quick so a buddy could be modelled correctly for Ard Boyz, and you could spend more time than I did on the details to make them look pretty cool. Total cost was negligable ... a $1.50 peice of pvc pipe, a $2 peice of plasticard I get from a train store and some random bits, and about 2 horus assembly time making patterns for the design, then cutting and gluing.

Though cutting down a bassie looks pretty good, and close to the actual model.

Someone posted this a while back and it's really good. The image's title is a description of parts.
