the dumbest thing ive ever done in a game was to go up against tau in a 2000 pts match without taking any transports except 2 land raiders. By the time i got up close i had 2 terminators and about 5 marines which promptly got mobbed by kroot

In the prelims for Ard boyz during the 2nd match I was playing DE vs DE. Kabal vs Wych cult, well my opponent (wyche cult) had been making such horrendous rolls that game that I was making an early domination. Everything was going according to plan until during one of my turns I had set up so many firing lanes and prepared for so many assaults that turn that I forget Half of them. My opponent nearly made a come back because of my crucial error. I ended up winning with a minor when I knew if I hadn't forgotten I would have gotten easily a major and maybe a massacre.

Dumbest thing I've ever done?
Forgetting 1k of my Vamps at home as I'm setting up for a 2250 game.
The look of horror you would have seen as I notice my GG bunker + lord is in the foam tray is not in my case, but in my house would have been priceless.

Forgetting to get my Callidus assassin to charge 3 space marines in the open. This result in the space marines firing their bolters and doing a wound and then fire a krak missle, luckily I made a 4+ dodge/invu save.

I once drop-podded Cato Sicarius with his command squad plunk down next to a full unit of Wraithguard, and a wraithlord behind them. I'm still not entirely sure why.

Last night I was all geared up for an Apoc game, got to my friends house and set my Stormwind on the table, pulled out all my guard and their space marine support; then went to pull out my guard codex....

it was at home.

Now I have to wait for tomorrow for our game as I live across town and we couldn't do the game tonight.

I have in several games either forgotten to use my Psychic powers, forgotten to give orders, or just plain forgotten to shoot with some units.

I also often pretty much set myself up to get assaulted, works fine for my wolves but sucks with my Orks.

I once played DoM with no warpfield save, he still made his points back too~!

Sending my vindicator up through a choke point about as wide as the tank's hull. It was proptly immobilised with the rest of my army stuck behind it. I then had to have my dread with multi-melta blow it up, taking three turns and its resulting explosion killed some of my nearby marines. Fail.

Oh, and lets not forget the time I versed my friend's guard.

I had my tac squads up on a hill, spending the entire game trying to blow up this flipping valkyrie in their faces rather than capturing the enemy objective. That game resulted in me losing every last marine, and only two guardsmen were killed. Failer.

I ran a chaos dread not geared up for shootin. Killed almost a full squad of plauge marines in round 1.

Sat there with a Defiler, doing nothing, for three turns. And I should point out my Defiler is six inches tall and modelled as a Knight. I had people talking to me about it every few minutes. I just kept forgetting to move or fire it.

On Necromunda, I forgot once that my opponent bought grenades for his Leader, and his gang had Vents as one of his territories.

I moved my gang as a single shooty block using my juves and gangsters to block the LOS against my Leader, but in the end a grenade fell in the middle, wounding my leader, 2 juves and a gangster, that left me with 3 gangsters and 2 heavies that where surrounded (finally, I lost my leadership test and my band fleed, on the aftermath, only a heavy died due to his wounds and a poor dice roll on the injuries table)

Now I double check for grenades or template weapons that can be used on me on the early turns xDDD

I forgot to move my 20 strong mob of boyz (with Warboss attached) during one moving phase. Best part was they were directly in front of about 15 Dire Avengers (wth Farseer escort). Luckily my friend's dice sucked and the remaining couple of boys, Nob and Boss took them out. Hooray for Ork resiliency!

In one game, I made a rookie mistake of being super excited to attack one of my friend's pinned Ork squads in close combat.

Of course, I forgot in my excitement that I hadn't fired with 8 of my Terminators, 1 of them having an assault cannon, and also 2 Long Fangs (Chaos Devastators) with Missile Launchers at an Ork squad sitting on an objective.

I could've won if I wouldn't have forgotten.

I charged a carnifex into 151 ork boyz taking out about 15 before my carnifex flopped dead.

We were playing a small game of about 10 players any one squad and you had to be the one controlling the bunker by the end or you would be killed by the virus bombs that was the fluff anyway

so we got to my part of turn 5 and i wasn't anywhere near the bunker having been pottshotting people with my sternguard + pedro kantor so i decided to orbital bombradment the bunker which resulted in it cracking open and dooming us all to a squishy death

In the previous set of rules I moved with IG in my first turn of my first ever battle. My opponent's DE raped me. :-(

How about turning a LR to shoot at some tactical marines behind it - with thier venerable standing about 6" in front (before turning) with a TL'd las cannon and dreadnought cc weapon. Or charging my guard at some possessed thinking "yeah, we can take them." We couldn't.

Mine is just forgetting about things that aren't on the table. Once tested out a list that ran two Drop Pods with Dreads in 'em, and lost because I completely forgot about them.

Same thing happens whenever I take Njal in my list. I just always forget he's there, and usually remember to roll for his Lord of Tempests about halfway through my movement phase...probably lost a few points at 'Ard Boyz because of it.

Oh, and my biggest cock-up was during my weekly League game a couple of weeks ago, facing against Chaos Daemons. Despite knowing that the opponent's Daemon had T6 (and I therefore needed 6s to wound it) I chose to charge my Terminators straight into it. One turn goes by, the Daemon wipes out half the squad because it had higher initiative (and 7 bloody attacks) then proceeds to tarpit the squad for another two turns as they poke at its ankles with toothpicks. The sad thing is, the very next turn, my Predator spun into position and blasted it, killing it in one salvo of lascannon fire.

At 'Ard Boyz, managed to get a Land Speeder w/TL Multi-Melta (Vulkan) right behind a Burnawagon. Perfect shot at rear armor with melta range. Shooting phase rolls around, then assault. About halfway through Assault I realize I forgot to shoot the thing. Ah well, managed to down the BW with a krak missile later in the game.

I had a ten man squad of dire avengers with a farseer on an objective (my only one). I then left that objective to assult a 20 man squad of gaurdsmen on anther objective to contest it at the last 2 turns of the game. I only realize my mistake on the last turn when my friend told me. WHAT WAS I THINKING

Charging a Fire Warrior squad, nerfing most of them with a Doom Siren before assaulting and cleaning up, then not getting to cover and facing a turn of AP2 Plasma Rifle and a whole lot of Pulse Rifle fire. Poor Noise Marines, I hope they enjoyed their deaths...

Playing an apocalypse game I held my army (IG) in reserve while my allies(eldar and inquisition) held the front lines against a hoarde of space marines. Although my ratlings did soak up an entire shooting phase from the 10,000 point sm army.

Not quite dumb, just strange and unlucky.

I've had both legs suddenly and simultaneously go to sleep, which resulted in me falling to the floor, me cursing to the chaos gods for betraying me, then losing the game because I couldn't reach any minis or dice to play my turn.

I played a game against my friends necrons, using space marines. He had spent the first two turns just standing and blasting apart my poor marines, when I decided to deep strike my assault termies, I dropped them right behind the enemy. I made sure to drop them where there was no enemy so as they wouldnt be destroyed if they landed to close on a scatter, unfortunately they ended further away from the enemy, and spent the entire game chasing the necrons, as the necrons advanced on my army, needless to say my most powerful close combat squad didnt see any close combat!
