I am Plasmaphobic (a.k.a scared of plasma weapons because of Gets Hot! Special rule.) I have a SM army so I know they get a 3+ armor save, but I don't want to take the risk. Any one else Plasmaphobic? Can you cure it? Also if you have any other 40k fears feel free to post!

One of my Seraphim Superiors has a Plasma Pistol and does just fine with it. It's never hurt her yet, though it's tried a couple of times.

On the other hand, playing Rogue Trader I got a Plasma Pistol that blew my hand off the very first time I pulled the trigger.

Happily, there's no Gets Hot rule in necromunda. My gang leader has put her plasma gun to excellent use so far.

if you are plasmaphobic get a command squad.

a captain can take a command squad which has an Apothacary for FNP.

marines have a very low chance of actually dieing to a gets hot roll, but having FNP makes it alot less scary.

15% chance of a Gets Hot. 33% chance of failing armor save.

a marines has a 5% chance of dieing to a Gets Hot roll.

a marine with FNP has a 2.5% chance of dieing.

I was Plasmaphobic but got over when I started playing DA. I've never had a marine die because of Get's Hot! and I've done a lot of damage with the guns and Cannons. (My MC hunting squad has a PC, PG, Combi-Plasma and a Plasma Pistol).

I am not plasmaphobic, and my 1,750 list has 5 plasma cannons. I can understand it, though plasma weapons can be good.

I've been playing not so long, but I've laughed at two opponents who failed to wound anything with the guns and ended up failing armour saves for the gets hot rule.

But there has been times when I wish to hell they hadn't brought the weapons to the game. When you've got sweet all toughness and a low armour save, the plasma weapons can work like a treat against you.

I cure it by putting plasma cannons on leman russ tanks and sentinels, but you're a Marine player so you'll just have to deal with it, or maybe spam that one razorback variant, dunno.

Easy phobia to cure, just model your plasma gunners like this:

I actually do have a model that looks like this; I was inspired by the pic.

I'd go and listen to the 11th Companies (podcast) episode about taking risks. I love plasma smply becuause the probablity of them doing any damage to the owned is quite low. Believe the statistics and don't be so risk-averse.

Once you get into the mindset of limiting your wargear based on what it might do to your units as opposed to what damage it could potentially cause you start falling down a particularly slippery slope indeed.

Take a couple of hundred bucks.

Go to a casino.

Gamble your original amount, keeping any winnings separate.

Leave.

If you left with more than your original amount, take comfort in the fact that you do, in fact, have good luck.

If you left with LESS than your original amount, then use the plasma anyway and just be happy you don't put money on your 40k games.

I'm a Plasmophobe. Partly because I can't get the bits, partly because I don't like them and partly because I have aweful luck in 40K. I am gonna go out on a limb and give some Kasrkin some Plasma Guns but I'll put my money on them becoming searing balls of goo and plasma shortly after they pull the trigger as their carapace Armour happily melts under the intense heat of a burning Star.

A laspistol arm from the command squad and a holding binoculars arm from the heavy weapon box would probably do it. You'd need to scrounge a marine plasma gun though.
