So, I have decided to try Fallout 3 again after a long absence, and went to see if FOOK2 had been updated.

To my joy it has. However, their site seems to be down and I cannot download the 1.1 beta 2 files. :(

Any generous Dakkaite happen to have them and want to upload them for me? I don't need the 1GB+ RC1 installer, just the 400mb Beta 2 update!

I have it but your going to either going to have to drive to my house so I can restart my server which shut itself off for somereason this morning after I left for work or your going to have to wait till I et home later tonight.

So sorry to tell you this, but it looks like the powersupply on my server fried, I've been haveing a problem with it turning itself off for about a week. I ordered a new one, but who knows when it will arrive...

Owch. I know that feeling!

However, the FOOK2 website is back up, so it looks like it was just a temporary outage.

Anytime, I used the server in college to host the "schools" DC++ and Counterstrike server so the thing has been running pretty much continously for close to 5 years, I should have seen this comeing.

Is FOOK good?

I don't really like how the new guns look so.. polished. And out of place. To be honest some of the nicest (i.e. coolest, most fitting looking stuff) like the bandit mask et al should be random loot on raiders.

Fook2 is FANTASTIC. I could never go back to normal Fallout 3. It doesn't just add new weapons, it adds masses of new stuff. It's 1.5GB of pure win and awesome.

Might check it out when I fix the graphics card.

Most Certainly. If anything it adds to it. Rather than just have "10mm Pistol" or "Assault Rifle" you have multiple makes, brands and it doubles the number of Calibres avaialble iirc, so you have things like 545x39, .556, 8mm Depleted Uranium and a host of others.

Nope, it's not on the site itself, only the links.

And Fook2 is a massive Improvement. More stuff, More Enhancements, More everything!

What is fook2? and if you want fallout 3 related stuff try fallout3nexus it has a huge community along with tesnexus which was the original after it was renamed due to Bethesda trying to get the owner to sign a deal.

FOOK2 is FallOut Overhaul Kit 2. It adds over 9000 weapons and other enhancements to Fallout 3.

Well... this all sounds smashing... time to go onto youtube and watch someone else muddle through it ... greenstuffing/painting my mini's while doing so of course.

You think you have it bad? I've installed Fallout 3 at least 20 times today. Trying to get it to run on linux is a pain, and I still haven't got it working. D:

Meh - tried FOOK2 and all it did was 'Fook' up my Fallout game. Wierd glitches like disembodied floating heads, red squares with exclamation marks in the environment, purple faces, Sally (the little girl from Zeta add on) decided to spawn in my Megaton house, loads of random crashes. I wanted to like it and I thought the weapon / addon mods were excellent but it killed the rest of the game too much for me.

Patch version and the mods will have been intended for a windows system so an emulator may help

What do you mean an Emulator?

If you mean wine, well... Wine Is Not an Emulator.

If you mean a virtual machine, it's impossible for it to access the physical graphics hardware (at least it is on OpenVirtualbox, no idea about VMWare but I don't have a few Hundred Dorrah to find out), making it unsuitable for playing games.

I have a friend that uses a version of linux with an emulator that will let him run any windows game (atleast dx9 not sure about dx10) By emulator I think you got the definition pretty much spot on. If you want I can try to find out what the program was called.

p.s. how long did the wine joke take to work out?

I'm 99% certain he is talking about wine.
