Heres my army in its current, and best (imo), paint scheme:

First, some fluff:

The Tern System has always been a military world, since the Imperial colony started to hold out against pirate raids. Its Imperial Guard and PDF forces are trained well and respected all over the system. The system has raised multiple regiments, including infantry, armored, and artillery regiments. However, the 65th Rifles still hold the title of the best Guardsmen from the planet. Part of this success comes from the fact that these guardsmen have been trained not only to fight in the normal way, but also to fight side-by-side with a chapter of the Emperor's Space Marines: The Vernar Knights.

After the destruction of their homeworld while the half chapter left to destroy a potential Ork uprising, the Vernar Knights became a fleet-bound chapter, going where they are needed most. The system of Tern earned their respect by offering the half-strength chapter enough recruits to fill itself out again, and then saving them from complete destruction from an Ork raid.

Now, the two forces fight together whenever possible, and have found much success in this fighting style. Each platoon of guardsmen is always tied with a specific Tactical Squad, creating a strong bond between the superhumans and the guardsmen who protect each other. Scouts normally provide sniper support where ever practical and necessary. The rest of the forces fight as they normally do, but provide support for each other through a linked vox network.

How's the fluff? Any ideas

Now for the good stuff:
Pictures of the models

Here's what I've painted so far.... There's more coming, its just in the ol' green and khaki or the ol' blue and gold
Its nice to change it up a bit sometimes

The standard fatigues for the 64th Rifles and the colors of the Vernar Knights:

Two Sentinels and a Dreadnought

The Command Squad of the 2nd Company

A Combat Squad of Marines

A Chimera

So, what do you think... Comments? Ideas?
Now, I'm far from the best painter, so don't rate me down too much for that

looking good so far, the painting isn't too bad. Just remember the more you paint the better you will get.

Can I make a few recommendations? Thinning your paints a bit will help a lot, ask anyone. Also some simple uses of washes will work. Thinning your washes when you use them will help also. Light Devlan Mud will help on the white. And silver Badab black.

The pictures' sizes make these pictures look horrible...... =(

@dufflebag: What do I thin my paints with... I'm using mainly the citadel paints

A Leman Russ is more than half done, the rest of the the Tactical squad may be finished.

Just thin with some water, a few drops depending on how much paint you use. This usually means you do a few thin coats instead of one thick coat and it looks a lot better. I had the same problems with my painting.

Just thin your paints down a bit and they'll look epic.

Hey, Dakkites!

Update post for the IG half of my army.

As everyone has said above, I have started to thin my paints a little, and the results are better, so: Thanks!

Here are the pics

A squad of guardsmen exit their Chimera on Newspaper Planet, while a Leman Russ provides support

The Leman Russ, one of my pair....

A shot from the front

The infantry squad

Sergeant, Vox-operater, and Grenade Launcher

All of the guardsmen I have painted so far.....

I still have to finish two platoons, another Chimera and Leman Russ, and a Basilisk, not to mention almost all of my marines.... fun stuff

Nice work! I'd have to agree on the paint thinning though: I thought I was a terrible painter until I found out how to thin my paints, and my painting noticeably improved. I like your colour scheme too, good work!

again, not to repeat but the paint thinning thing is very true.

i love the fluff actually. I would like to see the guardsmen mimicing the way a tactical squad works and is armed, this seems to me to be the best way to show the way they have trained together.

another idea would be to include straken who has a 3+ armor save as your commander and convert a space marine from your chapter to be straken to show how closely the two armies fight, and that your chapter sends a marine to command and perfect the IG fighting abilities. also techpriests i believe have a 3+ save and i have been thinking about doing a IG army trained by marines, so was going to have straken as a commander to show the marine in charge, then tech marines "training" my IG how to fire, hence the servitors with heavy weapons being IGs being watched over my the techmarine "training" them.

hope this little feedback helps!

again i dunno how wel the above idea would work on the battlefield but i usually dont base my armies upon that entirely.
