Since I have recently been asked by a few kind folks at the local game store to do some conversions for them, I thought I would show you all what I have been working on for others as well as myself. First up would be the female Valhallan squad. My client is trying to make a Valhallan 597th, and is currently deciding if I am going to be making a "real" or a "propaganda" version of Ciaphas Cain for the army. These will be getting a lot more mileage in the coming weeks, and I will be demonstrating in this project log how to do this conversion quickly, hopefully with a tutorial.

Are you getting rid of the shoulder pads? I don't think Valhallan have shoulder pads in any art or minis.

IMO they are looking good, looking forward to seeing more. although you might want to make the coat cover up the whole back rather than leaving it exposed.

Due to having to move to a new apartment, I have not had a whole lot of time for things like modeling, painting, taking pictures... breathing.

Anyway, I'm in my new abode, but have yet to set up a photo studio. This is very unfortunate, as my client probably wants his finished Valhallans back. So I rigged something together in my new back yard. I HAVE A BACK YARD!

In short, here are some lower-than-usual quality shots, and a promise that I will run through the tutorial on how to recreate these when he asks me to do the heavy weapons team.

Credit where credit is due - The heads are resin casts from Chapterhouse Studios. I believe they are female imperial guard heads. They look great, and are just the right size to add hats and other stuff too. I will be referring clients to them again and again. Chapterhouse makes great stuff.

liking the blog! The pics of the valhallans are much better upclose. I love the first one you posted, but as they get smaller it is hard to see all the beautiful details you put into the models. can't wait to see a step by step of how you made them, again great work!

they look very nice, but .....I SEE MOLD LINES! Removing them will make them look so much better.

Client only wanted me to throw an hour at them. He has other projects that he wants me to spend more of my time on. Mold lines are something he can do. I thought the mold lines were kinda neat in the picture though.. just that little bit of flash catching the light makes it look like a slightly metallic sheen.

I'mma nerd. Yes, mold lines are bad, but for as fast as these needed to be worked on to fit the schedule they are a problem for other hands.

More Valhallans!! This time, the heavy weapons teams. There are Chapterhouse female IG heads sprinkled throughout.

Unfortunately, the planned "Cadian to Valhallan tutorial" plan fell apart as the photos are very, very crap.

The only thing I can probably teach you is "don't take photos without enough lights... and also maybe cut down your coffee consumption 1 to 2 hours before you try taking pictures", which you learned by reading that sentence.

I IS EDUCATIONAL!

Anyway, on to the heavy weapons....
