I've been an on and off reader of dakka for a long time. Something has been bothering me though - lots of stories of people just up and quitting.

The final straw was just hearing that Dashofpepper quit the final round of the semis. I mean is it the norm now for people to go 1000-0 with a token draw by just quitting before any game they think they might lose? Like I said I have been reading the forums for a while and this is NOT the first case for both this user and the community.

I can say that I have conceded. I have conceded because I am obviously losing and my opponent is pressed for time. He had some pretty important obligations and we knew it going into it. Turn 4 I was down by about 3 KPs and maybe I could have eeked it out, but I thought it was the best thing to do, and looking out for him. He is not a common player around here, but since that was a few months ago I would like to now ask him if he thought it unsportsmanlike. (despite obviously being in his interest, I think it CAN be possible to be both at the same time....maybe?)

I have also conceded once in a tournament, but it was 10 mins left on the clock with 1 turn for both of us to go.

What are Dakkas thoughts?

Only done one tournament. Didn't drop out when playing one guy simply do to courtesy of lettting him play his game. Looking back on it i prolly should have dropped because the guy was quite the doucher O.o

But to sum it up: I dont think people should drop during tournament play do to courtesy to the other player. The exception being if yu have somewhere pressing to be (in which case you planned poorly) or its an obvious win for the other team and your opponent says its fine tht you decide to drop.

Those are my 2 cents

Children of Tzeentch (1850 points) W:11/L:6/D:5
Kabal of the Twisted Storm (750 points) W:4/L:1/D:1

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

*scoffs*

Way to be a drama-queen.

I was getting beaten on, it was turn five, the tactical situation was hopeless, we had one more turn to go with me being first....and with literally no options on the table, not even the ability to kill a single model......rather than shift my stuff around on the table a little bit so that my opponent could take another shooting phase at me.....

You know what? The game was already over, it was boiling hot, my shirt was streaked white from dried sweat, the poor air conditioning was far overloaded from trying to compensate for so many people and the doors being constantly opened and shut, I'd been through four giant gatorades and felt both bloated and dehydrated....I decided to call it and go get in the pool. I conceded gracefully, congratulated my opponent (we were the top two players and playing each other for the 2500 point army) chatted with him while we packed up, made a new friend.....said goodbye to everyone, thanked the TO for doing an awesome job, and drove 5 minutes to get in the pool.

Exactly why does this deserve a thread? No less one where you specifically call me out to try starting drama?

That this is not the place for soap opera.

Locking this down, as it appears to be nothing more than a thinly-veiled beat-up against a poster.
