I didn't check to see if you wrote some fluff, but is it named after the misspelling of
our very own mod?

It's actually in the Chaos Codex, Malf. I couldn't believe it when I saw it; I'll be doing a Claws of Lorek after I finish my Tau.

Thank you Iorek, Platuanth, and Malfred. Iorek, I know it's a bit weird, but every time I go to do any work on this army I always have the picture of your bear coming into my room and peek over my shoulder. It is a strange sensation. Kind of like ketchup on lobster! O.O

I think i should grab some space wolf bits and spruce the rubric marines up as that is per the story in the codex. One thing that threw me off of that is that they were (supposedly in their little scheme identifier thing in the beginning of the codex) an offshoot of the Astral Claws.

Also, I just started to make some Plague marines from scratch.

Here is my first attempt. I need to cut and reposition the fore-stock hand up a little to get the bolter to sit level. I like how he turned out and still need to add little GS details. He's not bad for a first go!

Group shot of the 6 torsos I have halfway finished so far. I need to scrounge up 4 more marines for a squad of 10. Here's hoping I can!

Anything you guys think I should change/work on that would improve these so far?

Maybe scrounging up some of the Nurgle Champion shoulder pad and heads?

I love em! I'm also noticing that your black looks a little grey! What colors did you use, and what washes? They seem to be pretty heavily washed, is this intentional?

I'm totally copying off you!

Platuan4th - that's a great idea! I'm thinking now about converting some of the existing CSM heads as well. I bought an old snap-together plaguemarine set a couple months ago, the kind with the static pose, but they all have the spikes on the helmet I've been thinking of cutting them off and using them. I've got 2 of the nurgle pads and heads (one has heavy hobby damage though), but I think I might GS cast the pad surface to replicate it.

Whitedragon - it's pretty simple, I just use the foundation paints and the new inks.

The order is -
Prime white
heavy drybrush of Adeptus Battlegrey
then about 2 heavy ink washes of Badab Black.

the metals are easy too -
Mithril Silver with a heavy Badab Black ink wash
for golds, same as above.

How do you like your golds when black inked?

Hey Malf - I think they're okay, not lusty or anything. they could probably benefit from a wash of the lighter brown ink. I've got some steam rolling today, so I think I will get the ML guy finished and try that on his gold parts and post it up.

Apologies for conjuring this more or less dead blog of mine back from the warp. I have picked up getting some more models done since several things IRL have calmed down.

My workmates nominated me to paint some Space Wolves for our boss for Christmas. Last year. Yes as you may not have noticed, I am a huge procrastinator! But things sometimes change. Hopefully this will help document that change

Here are some of the CSM I have finished. I am trying out some weathering/rusting/patina on these guys. Not sure if these effects are going to show very well as I am using the macro mode on my phone to capture the images. Additionally, there is no daylight to give me the proper mixture of light and the background doesn't contrast well with the model with a gradient, which I should have later this week.

Here are the Space Wolves.

Looking to add another completed terminator once I have the base complete and a few more CSM's in the next few weeks, hopefully not years! Ha ha!

A bit of an update, though it is tardy. I finished my first full squad of Claws of Lorek. I like how they turned out. I started collecting some more for the army as well, so I am a bit excited to get working on it, and even more excited with a pending codex and models. So far I have the follow list of what I have acquired and need to build/convert:

Deimos MK1 Predator (build/convert)
Deimos MK1 Rhino
Daemon Prince (convert)
5 Terminators (build/repair)
Chaos Marines x10 (paint)
Bikes (3 paint, 3 convert from DA bikes)
Raptors (convert/paint)
Havocs (build/Paint)

Anyways enough with the chatter, and on with the goods.

I have also done some more work on the Space Wolves Terminator squad

This is the fourth figure, but I am really hating painting yellow. Attempting to paint better, I'm trying to use more layers to build the yellow up to make it smoother.

MKIC Deimos Rhino
I think this has taken most of my time recently on deciding my plan of attack. I want to Chaosify it, so I've been practicing press molding arrows and what not from chaos bits to add this touch in. I haven't found something that really works, but am totally open to suggestions! I should probably just print out some patterns, trace them onto tape, make a GS pancake, and transfer that and then cut it out. Also, this has to have been hands down the worst resin model/conversion kit I have ever purchased. It is like they pulled it out of the mold before it had finished curing. The side panels were horribly warped, and after soaking them in boiling water, I had to tape them to the rhino chassis to hold form. Also, they gave me two left cupolas, so I had to convert one of the left ones.

Anyways I am probably going to paint it in the old school style where just the doors and double front panels have the warband pattern.

Daemon Prince - I dislike the right arm, so i am probably going to do some conversion using part of the bits from the plastic DP kit, which I really don't like. Just a custom base and head swap for now. I might have new pics up tomorrow before work depending on how much I get done.

Duel - I started this back earlier in the year as an entry for the Duel competition here on Dakka but couldn't finish it in time. I like the idea and think it would be fun to use it to try and improve my skills. Anyways this is what I have so far, but I omitted a number of bits from the Khorne Berzerker.

Cheers
