As if they'd not allow Space Wolves to access their shiny new plastic Drop Pod kit?

C'mon people! Fluff and rules are secondary... hell... tertiary in most cases when it comes to GW. If there's a shiny new kit to sell, then fluff will be retconned and rules will be changed to allow it.

Beyond the sales aspect, it makes no sense why they would not let the most In Your Face army this side of the Khorne Berserkers have access to a vehicle that gets them into combat asap. I think the idea of assaulting from a drop pod is more likely. Plus, IIRC, the first or second SW novels intro is all about them assaulting from a drop pod.

A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

It SOUNDS great, except it's too game-breakingly powerful.

Color me silly, but I don't remember Drop Pods not being fluffy for the wolves. I remember TELEPORTING not being fluffy (or allowed), but I not podding.

Oh, and it was after the 1st Armaggeddon war (vs. Angron) that the population of the planet was relocated to giant forced labor camps, all were dead within 15 years. Logan Grimnar has/had an issue with that.

Podding is definitely fluffy for the SW. Egil Iron Wolf's Great Company almost always uses this strategy (BFG). Also, as someone stated earlier, Wolf's Honour has another GC podding into battle...it may have been the same in the novel prior to that as well. I really have no idea how anyone would think the opposite. Restricting any Marine army to deploying only via Thunderhawks seems rediculous (they're going to be slower and rarer as it is).

Plus, in first edition Epic, the Space Woves were the premier drop legion.

I've never heard anything about Space Wolves not having drop pods, before this thread.

I have heard they didn't like teleporting, but not having drop pods would be wiggety wack.

Exactly, its in the fluff, they used drop pods a few times and later it was written in that they didnt like teleporting and jump packs.

Why would SW lose drop pods when they have Ragnar who specializes in DP assaults? I hope they get Jump packs and teleport back. Both of those were taken away in third for no reason, and a pitiful line of fluff to explain their loss.

Don't worry - that fluff will be forgotten and they'll get jump packs and teleport back. They'll also get heavy weapons in their tactical (aka "Grey Hunter") squads, but only if they take the full 10 men. In fact, just take Codex: Chaos Space Marines minus the overtly daemonic stuff, add land speeders, razorbacks, and venerable dreads, and switch all the combi-bolters and reaper autocannons for storm bolters and assault cannons - that should give you a good idea of what Codex: Space Wolves will be like. Enjoy!

Lollercaust....

Anyways Drops pods were used throughout the ragnar books. I could see the wolves not liking teleportes being as they all come from some primitive viking form of deathworld...

But a new codex would kick ass. The only thing I would like changed however is a new model for the Wolves of Fenris and for Bjorn to be a playable character. (that dread that knew and fought with the emperor in the heresy) That would totally kick Dark Angle anus.

Aside from Space Wolves, weren't just about all SM Chapters rather strict adherents to the Ultimate Tome of Boredom?

Most of them are, but there are variously-divergent Chapters. The Grey Knights are probably even more divergant than the Space Wolves, for instance.

*Which* Grey Knights? The RT-era GK from the RoC book in which the vast majority had no psychic ability and looked otherwise like any other SM Chapter???

Hmm, probably the Black Templars are the most divergent. Them or the fleshtearers. Seeing as one pretty much through TUToB out the window and the other is full of crazy ass canabilsistic lunatics...

well, GW staff, unless they are managers and it might even include managers at this stage, are only given 6 month windows of information. It's April right now and 6 months from now is October.. so the Nov, DEc info, I put little to know value in. I put about as much for his other 6 month info.

Unless GW has changed their colors on leaking info, a manger that does this is terminated, and staff aren't even given a chance to change outa their red shirt.

Is it impossible? no, but I don't put alot of weight on it..

That are also rumors that it will be early 2009, and I think that's more likely. Maybe late 08 will be Orks wave 2. Maybe the Xmas spearhead will be Wolves. Who knows. I don't care anymore. SM, SW, IG, Necrons, DE are all getting new codeci. Sometime. In the next few years. And maybe a new Inquisition codex. Or a Legions codex. Maybe both or neither.
