yes, if they wanted it to happen and all decided the same thing then it would happen. luckily for us orks like a fight so such a thing would never happen as they would have no one to fight with

lets hope they never do unite, or decide maybe peace isnt such a bad idea after all...it could happen...

i'd love to see a bunch of orks calling for peace...come to think of it i might have to make the hippy ork list

If he was a god then how come he struggled to kill Horus? and how didn't he see it coming? It just doesn't seem very almighty god like to me-and he denied it, why would you do that if you were?

he stuggled to kill horus because he didnt wat to beleive horus had turned to chaos so horus got a lot of hits on him before the emporor killed him (i think thats about right correct me if im wrong)

Yep, pretty much he didn't want to kill his favorite son, but in the end he had to.

The Emperor had good precognitive powers, but they only extended up to the time right before the fight with Horus. He didn't know that there was to be a fight, or who would win it. For the first time in His 16,000 year life, He was afraid.

I always saw him in the Greek/Norse tradition of gods, immortal in that they don't die of natural causes, but otherwise just being really powerful humans. This is as opposed to the monotheistic version of omnipotent god(s).
This seems to be the general theme, as the Chaos gods vie for control instead of simply making things so, Eldar gods die, and C'Tan get dropped by lascannons.
Perhaps the best way to put it would be a human who ascended to godhood by right of power, as opposed to general divinity.

I thought the gods came to existence when enough beings had a certain emotion or feeling (Khorne for anger, etc...). I believe some-where theres gw writing that states the emperor is a minor god in the warp, something to do with the star child or something anyway, if thats is true is the emperor a god in the warp because enough humans are devoted to him/believe he is salvation , or something along those lines?

Well there is that Star Child theory,That the Emperor's soul is waiting in the warp dormant till some day when it will awake into the Star Child god.

One theory is that the Star Child is the embodyment of the Emperors compassion he cast aside so he could bring himself to kill Horus.

so somewhere in the warp there is a god who only is a really nice guy who cares for others? wow, that is interesting....

not exactly like that, once he is realized into real god hood then he will probably become a crazy maniac for power and fall into the category of the 5th chaos god. then we'll all be in trouble

yes. and he will draw his power fromm all the people in the galaxy who care for each other....not the most powerfull god in the grim darkness if you ask me

Well technically if the Star Child ever came to be all it would have to do is show itself to every human simultanously telling them it'll be ok. The upsurge of raw hope in the Grim Darkness from billions of humans would be enough to give it a hell of alot of strength.

It actually made me think of religion. I put the flamesuit on because I
knew people would think it heretical to think of it, but I didn't intend to
poke fun at them. I was trying to point out that GW's construction of
the Emperor myth, like the Dune construction of Muadib and the Golden
Path and all that, was given religious overtones. It's vague enough to
allow for interpretation, but solid enough for it to become a doctrine.

Unifying aspect of humanity, and the manifestation of the potential of mankind to grow beyond its roots as either a barbaric race risen, or children of Nurgle. The point around which humanity gathers to resist the aspect of chaos, and yet at the same time, the symbol of their horrid state, where wisdom is a commodity, growth is both life and suffering, lust is death, and anger is a way of survival which must never be completely embraced. The Emperor is both the sole force that restrains humanity from falling into Chaos (A literal title), yet threatens mankind with stagnation. I just have to wonder though, if the Emperor does manage to be reborn, resurected or whatever how will he react to his apparent Godhood? After all he was the ones campaining against it-hence he might be a little miffed by this new religion, have a hissy fit and massacre the Imperial church!

Well, maybe. But you have to stop and think, would they really be destroyed?

"Negative" emotion here is subjective. Khorne represents wrath, change. Nurgle is decay and regrowth; destruction in the Hindu sense. Tzeench represents thirst for knowledge, and Slaneesh is desire.

Were it NOT for the chaos gods, there would be no manifestation of change. If not for their presence, what would there be but stagnation?
