The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

Going to have to hide $120USD somewhere 'till August. Two sets and I'll have 2 halfway decent armies. Coolness.

I would imagine it's just the Capt, Tac Marines, Dreadnought and the Warboss, Deff Koptas, and Boyz.
Even then, though, that's a steal.

One thing that's not in the box, though: Terrain. I find this to be ironic, given the emphasis on cover and LOS in the new ruleset.

Cool terrain may have lost out to model count this time around, maybe...
As for terrain and LOS really mattering this time around...
Since you can shoot though legs, between tree branches and tattered cloaks and banners now (albeit with granting a 'cover save'!), I'm not so sure how much terrain will matter.
Unless terrain will now consist of sold blocks of matter.

Well, Battle for SKULLZ Pass had some terrain in there. Granted it's Warhammer, but it still had stuff besides models. Terrain is (was?) more important in 40K, so I hope we get something, otherwise the box holds nothing for me besides a cool dread and Commander... I'll just sell the rest.

I agree with HBMC on that. Despite the more limited role that terrain plays in FB, Skull Pass still had some pieces. Not very impressive pieces, I grant you, but pieces nevertheless.

It's likely just a figure with the current "vet sgt" armor. I don't think I've seen true Mk 8 armor that wasn't a conversion. Remember, according to the "fluff", Mk 8 has both the neck guard and covered cables in the abdomin.
These models are most likely "simplified" two-part jobs for new players and lack the detail/workability for more complex conversions. This means the sprue was likely redone from existing models instead of brand new sculpts. But, if that isn't a problem for you then this would be an awesome way to get an army on the very cheap.

I'd rather have a crap-ton of models than some ginchy terrain. I can make ginchy terrain, not models.

I'll be buying two of the boxes and splitting the price with a friend that plays orks. Heh. $60 will get me 2 x commanders, 10 x termies, 20 x tacs, 2 x dreads.
That's sweet.

Yeah, hate to say it but I do not think that there will be all the models they have pics of. I am sure that some of those are pics showing what battles could look like had you baught more figs. The Rhino for instance and the Killa Kan are more than likely additional pics of other things you can add. The box will be a great deal, but not THAT great of a deal! And just as HMBC said, we do not really know what is in there. Gotta agree though, that marine dread cc arm looks pretty rad!

Are those orks the same as the simplified snap-fit orks that came out a bit ago? The ones that come 4 to a small box? They look almost identical.
I'm thinking that the Dread will be 4 pieces - left arm, right arm, front body, back body. I don't see how you can have a good looking piece just doing the dread with only 2 pieces, there would be no detail along the sides if the arms were connected.
I would doubt that the MegaNobz are included, one of the pics shows what the Nobz will look like, armed with slugga and choppa/'Uge Choppa.
With all this plastic on the box, I would be very surprised if there was terrain in there as well, aside from a couple small pieces like an ammo crate or field generator, something like that.

Rock too btw, this might save 2 of my buddies a buttload of money as an alternative to even buying bitz sprues! Only downside is they might have to wait a while..
Are you speaking of the 5th Edition rule book? If so, this starter set is released 2-3 weeks after the book. Or are you speaking of the 5th edition starter set, cause this is the starter set.

And if you only bought the box for the Dread, you'd still get a rule book for the extra few bucks. So even in the most pessimistic views shown to date, it's still worth it. but hey, for every box you don't get, is one extra box for me to get.
Shoot, I wonder what I can get for painting up a starter set squad of marines on ebay..? money maker? probably..

Tetchy, what're you smoking? They look about the same as standard models. Mix them in and it'd be hard to tell the difference, as only the poses give them away. For simplified plastics, I'd say that qualifies as "awesome."

they look good now, but just like the battle for macragge models they seem to get sloppier and sloppier as time goes on, like the mold gets downs syndrom or something. Though, yeah, with enough painting ninjitsu one should be able to make these guys look like any other dispite their extra chromesome.
