Reckon I'll do this again, not 100% happy with it. Face slightly too big, arms and hands are a bit messy, as is the collar.

lemme know when the Black Praetorians start, for some unknown reason i might collect an IG army

Finally finished big mutie #1, head is separate :

Basic shape done on the Black Praetorian, once the arm on the right is cured I can take it apart, clean it all up and add the final details (buttons)... then just the helmet to tackle. Also, it's the trigger hand that's too small - not the other hand that's too big, they'll be sorted at the 'clean up' stage next.

98% finished. These pics look rubbish. Still to detail the gun, add a helmet spike and tidy up everything with a knife.

Not like my sketch but if you notice that was stylised: this mini actually has the correct sized helmet, even if it looks slightly big (the neck needs trimmed so it will sit a LOT lower).

The angles on the helmet are very subtle and hard to pick up on camera, it will look good when cast and painted.

This is really a prototype, when I get multiples back from Troll Forged I can then refine the helmet more in hard resin and also make a lot more poses (I need multiples of the torso and waist to make sure they all match up in lovely multipart). This will come with a blank head along with the helmet incase anyone wants to convert these as loyalist troops.

Spike to be chopped and realigned :

New mutant leaders ready for first layer of detail and equipment :

The top one (the Lieutenant?) has the best face of them all. It does not look too large, mostly because he is non-human in his proportions already (the head shape, and large talons lead me to not expect human features).

I'm not fond of the pose on this last one (it might get better with weaponry, but currently he looks a bit like a rubber muscle man). The details on the clothing and face are terrific, though.

Finally finished: teeth are to be sharpened after curing and the club thing needs the gaps 'packed' so it casts ok :

Mutant troop casts are in (thank's Troll Forged miniatures). Here's one of each with weapons and heads in place, every other one will be converted (I got 50, dont like duplicates), they've been made so you can easily chop the waists and arms for repositioning and swapping. Hard to photograph the white resin but they'll be painted up soon and should show the detail.

On and off for a few years but only really started sculpting properly (full mini's) about May time this year. So 5/6 months. Using GS for a long time though, been in the hobby for about 15 years.

All other greens on this log are being posted off on monday for casting. Plan is to have 50 mutants complete for the big muties, leaders, gibbering horde (made lots of bits but didn't get round to posting them here) and Black Praetorians coming back. Lot of converting and painting to do in the meantime.

Next sculpting project will be zombie troopers: soldier fatigues, dead risen straight out the trenches.

Yes, ha: It'd be worthwile including the links !

Here's the online store: http://trollsforge.com/

Here's a very much WIP site I'm developing for my stuff, lots of fluff if you can find it on the tabs (all the spaces need to be filled with pics as I get round to it). Gives an idea of where I plan to go long term with my sculpts. All the ripped photos (public domain mind you) will be replaced too.

Thanks mate.

You should just give it a go !

Maybe we could do a sculpting school or something on troll forged, bit like where people paint up stuff every month and post it all on the one thread, only it's sculpting. Start easy and work out way up to a full mini, we do a tutorial on something and people signed up need to post their version each fortnight.

PM me if anyone is interested in this.
