Given the current rumours and how hard Raiders are in 5th....
Generic Captain
Term Squad w/ Asscannon
---Land Raider Transport
Four Tac squads 7 men strong in pods
3 Land Raider (Mix of Crusader/Red/Las)
Meet a heavy BL army and you die...other armies though...

Master of the Forge /w Conversion Beamer
3 5man Terminator Squads /w asscannon (or heavy flamers) + Redeemer Transports
2 10man Tac Squads with las/plas (maybe sgt /w fist)
3 Ironclad Dreads /w TL-Lascannon.
master of the forge lets you take dreads (hopefully ironclads) as HS.
dreads, tac squads and MotF provide anti-tank and hold/contest objectives in the DZ. terminators and redeemers kill everything. by my reckoning it will come about 2000pts.
admittedly you only have 26 guys, but its not reasy to kill 3 landraiders, 3 AV13 walkers in cover and 15 terminators.
Quick mental math says that is way over 2000 points.

I estimate points like this:
MotF w/ Beamer = ~150 pts
3x 5 Termies (200) + LR (250) = 1350
2x 10 Tacticals w/ Las/Plas (200) = 400
3x Ironclad w/ twin Las (~150) = 450
Estimated Total = 2500 pts
IMO, this is pretty poor for 2500 pts.

I love how quickly people have decided Tacticals are once again worthless, based on some very limited (mis)information. Hilarity ensues.

I dont know. No matter how bad they look an entire army of marines that auto pass/fail moral checks will be a thing to be reconed with.

Anyone else think that his "beam cannon" is udder BS. No 120 point model should have a freeking S10 AP 1 blast template.
The more I hear about these new marines, confirmed info or not, it just makes me sick.

In it's favor it's apparently only S10 AP1 blast if it's at the max distance (or close to it).

Yeah, come to think of it, get rid of the broken ass shock attack gun as well. I mean, it is a LARGE blast capable of removing whole units without wounding or rolling saves. Ohh right if it's in the ork dex it isn't broken
Or perhaps SAG isn't broken because we know all the rules for it and have seen it in play? And we know there are other more viable options in the HQ slot (this is also true for marines as rumored). I'd wait and see before getting all in a twist, cause even now it looks like that high end shot requires the target to be a long ways away, and with that in mind getting a 4+ cover save a majority of the time.

We can be assured
That something will be amiss with the new space marine codex, because that is an essential dynamic to encourage enthusiastic lunatics to spend hundreds of dollars of little pieces of plastic that cost mere cents to produce! I always laugh when gamers wee their diapers in telling us how CHEAP a deal is that is suddenly giving us "$400" of models for only "$300", or how the new starter kit is such a bargain at $80. Yeah it is. $3 of plastic and a $2 book is a REAL BARGAIN for $80, if you think it is. GW used to boast on its investor site that the base profit margin for the business was 90%, which means it costs em $8 to get that $80 box in store. Prices have reduced slightly from the worst time, which is welcome, but the pattern endures.
New space marines will be a variation on the basic scam. Players will feel that SM suddenly got more power and hence more value, and will go out and make new armies. Suckers! Cents worth of sprues will trade for multiples of their production cost and many a game will be won.....Oh mighty space marines.... a codex that reflects the new reality of 5th edition.....
But soon enough another new codex will come out with BETTER and BETTER units that render the SM weak again! Back to the bank and get out more money guys! To be sure, new IG and new Dark Eldar when they finally eventuate will have new rules that make them MUST BUYS the same way SM are being primed now. In the same way, all the gradually weakened codexes will need redoing to up-grade them as well. Eldar, Chaos an Necrons will each have their moment as the strongest list, and the MUST BUY army! Then it will be the nids turn, and something tougher than six carnifexes will be possible and we will all say WOW< How great!!!!!
Warhammer players can check the new Dark Elf Army book and note, that wow, the last army book really does have the strongest rules.
All of this is the prime formula in the GW business plan. Sway the weak and easily swayed into FOREVER obsessing and paying premium for the newest product.
Rather than finish the rules (already), and say that 5th edition is the final and best 40K product, they will design each codex to make the previous obsolete so that the cycle of new re-purchasing goes on forever.
Hobbyists are the prey and the company is the real predator.
But I am as much an addict as any of us, and I will go along for the ride and make a SM army this year! What the hell! Its a damn great hobby! and having your supplier lie to you is no worse than your woman lying that she loves you as she swallows what she should! It doesn't matter if a lie helps you get your rocks off, and it doesn't matter that the $100 battleforce was place in shop for $10. I'm gonna buy it and use that SM glory to kick some dumb-ass hobbyist ass. Then I will buy whatever other codex and army they cycle onto next too. Cos I'm an addict and I love this plastic model drug....

Congratulations, you have found the rabbit hole.
And no, the new Dark Elf book in fact does not contain the best rules. Which is a pitty since I like those spiky freaks...
