Brotherhood of Blood

Solid list. I would concur with the double melta's in your sister squads. Lots of Heavy flamers for hordes and 10 plus melta's for armor and MC's. 5Th being what it is I don't think it will struggle as much as people think against skimmers. Plenty of mobility to get melta's where they are needed and withas many as you have where can they go to get out of range of that many melta's. Might be worth trying multi-melta's on your three support Immo's?

Though I will say that while it is a good solid list,
Dakka Fexes would have a good chance at giving it a migraine, Especially if the player has a tyrant block with the 3 guard, since only the meltas will have much of a chance of doing anything to it,

But I think it would be fun to play against,

This list has some serious potential. It has somethings I wonder about... How would this do vs a Necron list that spams Monoliths?

I would imagine 2 monoliths, a deciver. and a ton of warriors would make this list upset since they monoliths ignore meltas and the warrirors can easily get back up... don't forget that list.

Otherwise I like the fact it is very different and shows some potential.

Why do you have a palatine instead of a canoness? the extra faith for 10 more points is well worth it.

Let us know how it does

Naysayers that dont think that this army will rock hard are delusional.

This is VERY close to my mech sisters list (celestians and dominions are awesome), nice touch removing the Exorcists now they've been nerfed and adding more Immolators...may have to try that.

The only things that stop this sort of list....

L-deployment or forced reserves against mega-shooty lists and terrain too thick for you to steam thru creating bad traffic jams.

You should do very well StJohn. I'm a little concerned about two scoring units, (I prefer 1 sisters and 3 5man inquisitorial Strooper rhinos) but you should do very well. You obviously KNOW you have only two units to score with, but plenty to contest with.

Um, how have Exorcists been nerfed? AP1 is still pretty devastating, and makes it so even glances can kill. I suppose there's more cover, but the big targets it should usually be going for can't get cover easily.

Other than that, interesting list, and has a lot of potential - definitely thinking outside the box. Good luck!

Try shooting Exorcists at land raiders or Monoliths and tell me that they havent been nerfed in the change from 4e to 5e.

Exorcists used to be the answer to Armour 14 that needed to be taken out quick and at range in the first turns of the game.

Sure, they're still good against armour 12...whatever...exorcists used to be firing at predators, land raiders, leman russes, monoliths and the like. Firing three of them was almost a guaranteed kill against those targets. Not such a devestating weapon anymore.

Trust me, they're nerfed. Theres a reason he doesnt have them in his list.

It's not that he doesn't own them, he does.

This army is more fun for him, I think.

Plus it's incredibly tough to beat.

I guess my first question is why are you assuming the GT will have no KP missions??? All past GTs I've been to always had missions of each set. In 5 games you may very well throw in 2 KP missions.

I could really see you having a pretty tough time against anything in a KP mission. Any super shooty list won't have too much difficulty with AV 12 and immolators with a 12" range make hth armies a pretty big threat. Granted I'm sure 10 immolators can absolutely erase a lot of close quarter issues. Anyway, that's fairly obvious.

As for objective missions: I've been playing a sister list with 5 X 10 Sobs in rhinos, 3 exorcists. Contesting objectives has been pretty easy. Holding objectives has been much more difficult. I've found 10 SOBs with a book hold on for awhile in hth until torrent of fire kills off the book. The hth out put for these squads suck. So if someone locks up a troop unit on an objective there is not much you can do about it.

So I have to ask do you really find that 2 troop choices works for you? Do you basically play for the tie, and hope that the mass flamers brings you out a head in VPs?

Pete

I don't think he assumed that there will be no KP missions.

There is no AV12 just AV11.

Immolators make CC armies cry.

Move 12", get hit on 6's. They tank shock you and fry you.

Then the girls inside get out and add to the pain.

While I can only give my experience against this army, stjohn will blow you off the objectives. lol

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I was on the business end of the army during the team tournament and I was surprised at how well it works.

There are several reasons why this list works.

#1. You have empty HS Immolators popping smoke screening the ones with cargo so they all get obscured. Then they are on you by turn #2.
#2. Vehicles are much harder to kill by shooting these days.
#3. They can move 12“and still fire negating vehicles new weakness to assaults.
#4. The sheer volume of vehicles can’t be stopped (see point #2). You need a lot of strength 7+ to come close to slowing it down.

There are really only a few armies that can take this list, and if the Immolators get first turn they still have a good chance of winning.

Heh, that game with Blackmoor & Janthkin was a lot of fun, but it wasn't really about winning or losing - it was about both of us re-learning the differences between 4th & 5th.

Well since you resurrected it . The one question I had about the list was why the 2 flamers in the dominion squads instead of a couple more melta's. Was it the increased price on the melta's that kept you from doing it or did you think you had enough anti-tank already?

Both. And that more flamers = good.

Just out of curiousity what lists do you St. John think would give this list trouble? How good do you think your opponents were in comparison to yourself? And did your list play itself at all?

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Only ultra shooty at range gives this list trouble...and it NEEDS to go first or the pressure is still on the shooty army.

Heavy Terrain hurts sometimes and that old "L" deployment is the pitts. Forced Reserves where you have to move in off of your table edge rather sucks as well....again....all when up against ranged shooty. Against assault...well, anything that heads TOWARD your flamers/meltas is great...thank you.

Assault armies are a joke against this. If its space marine assault (or mixed shooty/assault), the only thing difficult is trying to move your precious models between waves of evil laughter.

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

I imagine lists heavy in Plague Marines, each squad with two meltas and a fist, some oblits, and maybe some termies could give the army issues. LR fire to help take out vehicles, PMs that can usually care less about flamers/heavy flamers (and if you tank-shock them the meltas will likely stop you), and a few other things that are hard for Immolators to take out. That, or fully mechanized Eldar armies (edited for clarity), against whom rhino-mounted meltaguns aren't as good as they are against just about anyone else.

Just curious - why aren't meltaguns as good against fully mechanized armies like Eldar?

Wave Serpent energy fields - only 1D6 pen instead of two. I said not as good, not that they're no good. Still the best chance in a sisters list of taking them down, though perhaps Exorcists are as good.

Edit: Also, tri-monolith armies might be a problem, if they play smart and hide from those flamers behind the monolith wall. Meltas still have a chance of doing something to monoliths, but only blow them up less than 1/36 times they're fired.

Monoliths are indeed hard to take down. But Necrons have 0 chance of hiding with how fast the army moves. Don't get me wrong, they can inflict some horrific damage along the way, but I have yet to have a major problem with any Necron build.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I see a couple of armies giving it trouble.

#1. Mech Guard. All that 12 front armor, and a lot of strength 5/6 shooting and lascannons from the squads can dish out some damage.

#2. Shooty Chaos. Oblits and CSM can take down a few Immoliators a turn, and with their +3 save, the heavy flamers do less damage than they do to armies with a 4+ or worse save.

FWIW, only Plague Marines stand up to this army.

Everything else Chaos has, folds to it. I know.

Don't think Mech Guard will give it much trouble either really.

Mech Tau and Mech Eldar are really the ones I think to give it trouble, and even then only certain builds will be a real threat.

Not saying it's perfect, but man you gotta be on the ball to not just get rolled. lol
