Augustus,

Will the templates you're using to cut the wood be available when you're done?

I play

I will magnetize (now doing LED as well) your models for you, send me a DM!

Course, given half a chance I will too!

Thanks a lot, I'm Honored. I am considering making copies of my journal entries and mailing these "plans" to interested parties. I will say, one would have to have access to several woodshop tools and a wide variety of materials to reproduce the pieces I am making and familiarity with using them.

im thinking about making a warhound from wood, got plans for plasticard one, just isnt as stable.

I'm not really making templates, like printable paper sheets, or computer files? I just have schematics and sketches in my journal and the imagery I am posting in this thread. ?

Well, I will make this promise, if, at the end of the project, anyone wants a copy of the notes and schematics in my journal I will photocopy it and send them one, if they IM me an address, as long as the shipping is under a buck or so.

As stated before I am using a fully equiped wood shop, so I expect this little adventure would require at a minimum a table saw, a jig saw, a bench mounted belt sander and a chop saw. Or possibly some equivalent hand tools like a miter box and saw, but yikes...

If there is more interest in the specifics of the carpentry, post as much and I will walk through the production steps of the pieces in question, and or help interested parties get started.

Thanks for the feedback!

More Leg Pics:

I am going to create the Armor for the legs next and attach the feet, then I will work on the hip component!

Im thinking of putting a steel pin in the hip so that it is really sturday, like a massive pin for a metal mini sort of.

Images of the completed pieces:

Viola, these were pretty easy saw work, I added some plasticard to the fronts to replicate the look of the imperial armor on the titan. I also started some minor detailing by including imperial eagles on the leg armor where the epic titan has them too.

I dont think making something that size out of plasticard is structurally viable. Maybe as just a display piece, but not to withstand transport or play.

So... is there going to be a lot of brown or grey stuff involved soon? I'm following this, because it is just so ambitious, and it looks like you are going to pull it off great.

So, keep on keeping on.

after watching my friends plasticard reaver fall apart after he spent ages on it i would rather go for something with a solid construction.
but i sorted his titan out, filled it with expanding foam, it makes it a little heavier, but now its solid (i demonstrated by throwing it down my stairs lol) the look on his face was priceless, but it didnt break

note: it wasnt painted, if it was i wuldnt have done it as it may have damaged the paint lol

Yes, I am going to make a copy mold of an imperial eagle pin I have for the carapace when I get to it, stay tuned!

I've got a scanner and Adobe Acrobat. We could just scan it and print it to PDF.

Also, I should be finished with the display board this weekend. I think I'll do a thread about it.

My Warhound is made from 0,5mm plasticard, but is quite sturdy. But it's glued with the kinda plastic glue that "welds" the seams, and not super glue.
Its been played with, and transported to friends. And it's very ligth...
To make a plasticard structure stronger, you can easily use all that exess sprue to reinforce it inside.

But hey, you are applying carpentry to this, and it looks great so far!!!

azmo, i used poly. cement which melts it together lol, he has a tendancy to throw it about a bit, so certain parts have bent.
0.5 is a pain in the ass to cut angles from, but its worth the work for legs / body wheremore stability is needed.

Got the hip built with a steel pin through the center of the legs and a mounted bolt point for the upper torso! Attached the leg armor and feet and built the thigh pads too. Hope you like the progress!

Really Great Work!!!!

I do have one question though, and I think this is born of my own ignorance. What about the primer and texture of the paint when applied to wood? I am just wondering if the look/feel of the paint will be the same as if it were over plastic or metal.

Good point, there are some dangers when working with grain of wood.

A few points, most of the titan is MDF, Maximum Density Fiberboard, which doesn't have any grain, it is basically made from wood dust and resin so it is totally grain free, but the edges can be very porous.

Also, I intend to laminate the majority of the surfaces with plasticard, so that is wha shows, like the legs for example.

I am also going to double primer it, grey then black, so the first coat will seal the edges and such!

Stay tuned!

Great work, Augustus. The legs have been the weakest part of other Warlord builds on here, but yours are really well done.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I have a plan to leave chunks out of the shoulders so I can slide in Rocket Launchers or Turbo Laser boxes (concept art shown previously in the post!)
