I signed an agreement when I began 40k to never even contemplate collecting Marienz. Good to see others holding the same standards!

All metal? WOW. Sounds expensive! But then again, what with GW isn't?

Truth is you have to GO FOR IT. My advice is to try to acquire models at a discount - or 2nd hand. You want to bring that cost down. Even so, if you want every last one to be a one-of-a-kind legend, then you're probably going to be spending twice as long on every model in order to paint/konvert it properly. So that means you can afford to take your time acquiring models as well.

Have you looked into the Movie Space Marine List (WD300)? I guarantee each Space Marine in there is a pure Legend.

MDG, you've been reading my mind... I pulled my old metal marines out of their box and started digging for arms and shoulder pads last week after I got my AoBR boys painted as smurfs. I used to be a Blood Angel boy myself, graduating into my own chapter before I left the game, but with the new codex I've been thinking more and more of playing marines, vanillas in general and ultras specifically. Good luck to ya, don't listen to the naysayers!

Above all, 40K needs more SM armies.

I could have done a succesor Chapter, but using the Tyrannic War Veterans, with their oodles of moulded iconography really limits things somewhat, as I simply cannot be bothered to....

1) Design my own heraldry
2) Design my own colour scheme
3) Remove existing iconography
4) Free hand the replacements.
